STD MRR Accessory Control
Mode: Editors' pick
This project started off as a simple one layer accessory control board that would switch on model railroad accessories when track power was turned on. It seems to mitigate problems with Digitrax DS64 randomly switching turnouts at power-up. The optional power out should not be used except for very low current items. The LM78xx will work the items on the board for N, and HO. A heat-shield may be needed for O/G scale track voltages.
I replacing the LM78 with a buck regulator with the same pin-out, then the voltage out has been tested up to 500ma. Of course the relay operational voltage needs to be adjusted to match the regulator voltage.
