Isolates the controller from the solar panels when the solar voltgage is too high; necesasry so as not to exceed voltage ratings of the motor controller supply capacitors and motor phase MOSFETs. Uses 2 voltage dividers to provide voltage feedback for both the solar panels and the controller voltage, with these nodes separated by a low side n-channel MOSFET. The MOSFET (PSMN016) is controlled by a gate driver IC (MCP1407) which receives a PWM signal from an ATTINY85 microprocessor. This microprocessor also reads the analogue voltages from the voltage dividers. Power for the gate driver is supplied by a buck-boost regulator board (A13 XL6019), mounted as a daughterboard on the main PCB, which receives power from one fo the 3 solar panels (providing 10-24V). This buck-boost also provides power to a linear voltage regulator (AS78L05) which in turn provides 5v to the microprocessor. Additionally, the ATTINY85 pins will also be connected to two 4-pin headers, allowing the ATTINY to be programmed on-board to make adjustments to voltage cutoff levels or timing.
