Starscream is a controller port mod for the original Xbox that utilizes two side-emitting SK6812 addressable RGBW LEDs mounted to a tiny PCB (just 76mm^2) that solders directly to the wires at the back of the controller port. These LEDs are just 4mm x 2mm x1.6mm, and can be controlled just like the more common WS2812/b LEDs. The PCBs are intended to be chained together in series by soldering wires to the two small pads at the edge of the PCB.
Starscream abuses the WS2811 protocol, which is intended to drive LEDs in series, by splitting the data signal and driving it down the Xbox controller port's yellow wire, allowing for a controller modified with two compatible LEDs to be controlled in parallel to the controller port's LEDs.
