Description
In this project I have made an 8by8 led array display. It uses an arduino pro mini, one 74HC595 3state output shift register and one 74HC164 shift register to display the characters. The 74HC164 register is used to select the rows and the 74HC595 is used to show the data on the selected row. The programming logic is very simple: any character to be displayeded is devided into 8 1byte data. The one/zeros of any byte represents the led on/of state of the coresponding row. First one row is selected, then the coresponding data is writen in the row, then the next row....this will go on sequentially to display the charcters. To make life easier I made a very simple matlab gui to create the bytes for a charcter and then copied it to the arduino code..
