Description
ALL RESISTORS 0603 EXCEPT FOR THE SYNC RESISTOR WHICH IS 0805 IF SYNC DOES NOT NEED TAPERED HERE (5V TTL) EITHER BRIDGE OR USE A ZERO OHM RESISTOR. TWO OUT OF THREE CAPACITORS ARE 0603 THE 220UF ONE IS 1411 THERE ARE 3 PULL-DOWNS AT THE BEGINNING FOR SNES PICK YOUR POISON SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 1-2.2K (THE COMMUNITY SAYS 1.2K I THINK) PRINT AT 0.6MM TO 1MM ANYTHING THICKER/THINNER WILL BE CRAP. ENIG RoHS SUGGESTED I PUT THE VIAS WHERE THEY SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO BRIDGE TO ANYTHING ON THE BOTTOM. I MADE A CHOICE TO WRAP THE GROUND PLANE AROUND THE BOTTOM (TOP LAYER) OF THE BOARD INSTEAD OF USING VIAS. THIS WAS SO THAT IN ALL LIKELIHOOD YOU WONT NEED TO USE DOUBLE SIDED TAPE AS AN INSULATOR. THE TRADE OFF IS WHEN SOLDERING THE WIRES YOU WANT TO PUT THEM AT A SLIGHT ANGLE SO THAT THEY CAN'T TOUCH THE GROUND PLANE. ON THE SNES MINI THIS BOARD WILL NOT BLOCK ACCESS TO ONE OF THE CAPACITORS THAT OTHER KITS SEEM TO COVER UP FOR SOME REASON. THE SYNC IS THE ONLY REAL QUESTION HERE., MOSTLY WITH THE N64 SOMETIMES SYNC IS ALREADY PRESENT ON THE SYNC PIN AND SOMETIMES ITS NOT. IVE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE USING THE STOCK SYNC WHEN IT IS PRESENT BUT i HAVE HEARD IT CAN HAVE ISSUES. IF IN DOUBT JUST USE LUMA SUYNC OR STRIP SYNC WITH A LM1881 (AT THE CABLE END). THE SYNC HERE WOULD BE UNBUFFERED AND COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE ISSUES OVER LONGER CABLE RUNS. I COULD KEEP GOING ON AN ON ABOUT SYNC... IF YOU WERE TRYING TO MIX THIS FOR COMPONENT VIDEO AND WANTED TO GET THE Y CHANNEL ITS PROBABLY BETTER FOR YOU TO PULL FROM THE ALREADY PRESENT LUMA VIDEO ON EITHER CONSOLE, SINCE THAT ALREADY HAS SYNC. THATS IF YOU WANT TO GET COMPONENT VIDEO INTERNALLY INSIDE THE CONSOLE INSTEAD OF USING SOMETHING LIKE THE HD RESTORVISION (WHICH WILL ALSO WORK WITH THIS KIT ASSUMING THE KIT WORKS). INTERNAL RGB TO COMPONENT CONBVERSION CAN ALSO BE DONE WITH TIM WORTHINGTON'S COMPONENT CONVERTER (TYPICALLY USED IN THE ATARU ABD NES RGB MODS). I'VE ONLY TRIED THAT WITH THE N64 AND RESULTS WERE PRETTY COOL. CURRENTLY UNTESTED,ON ORDER WILL UPDATE. WILL HAVE THS737X VERSION OF THE SAME THING. THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS A SIMPLE SOULTION FOR AMERICAN AND JAPANESE SYSTEMS ON NTSC TV'S. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR BETTER BUT MORE COMPLEX BOARDS I WOULD SUGGEST TIM WORTHINGTON'S OR BORTI4938'S. THESE CAN NOW BE POPULATED AND SOLD, OR INSTALLED BY ANYONE OR SOLD AS A DIY KIT AS A BLANK PCB. I WOULD ASK THAT YOU LINK BACK TO THE MAIN PROJECT PAGE (AS TECHNICALLY REQUIRED B THE LICENSE) IVE STARTED WRITING IN ALL CAPS CAUSE I LIKE TO. IM NOT YELLING I SWEAR.
