# Joule Thief This is a simple Joule Thief playground of sorts. There are a lot of places to attach a battery and attach an LED to this. Its a very simple circuit, but my problem was that without a good place to attach things, it falls apart on me. See here for good example. This circuit operates by using a simple but ingenious configuration consisting of a transistor, a resistor, and a toroidal transformer. The primary function of the Joule Thief is to boost the voltage of low batteries, typically below the standard operating level of many devices, to a level where they can still be useful. This is achieved through a process called voltage boosting, facilitated by the transformer and controlled by the transistor's switching action. As a result, the Joule Thief allows batteries that would otherwise be considered dead to continue powering devices such as LED lights, thus extending battery life and enhancing energy efficiency in a practical and cost-effective manner.
