Desktop version does not save locally ?

Am trying the EasyEda Desktop client (Win64 version). In the schematic editor a "convert to PCB" command requires that I first save the current project. So far so good. But it only offers to save in on the server, not locally. Have I missed something? It seems that forcing you to connect to the server sort of defeats the whole idea of working locally. What if the connection is not possible (it happens )? Am I stuck with my half-baked project until the server becomes availble again ? Please tell me that I DO have overlooked the right option or menu command.

I'm afraid you do need an Internet connection - EasyEDA is a cloud based service

@MikeDB Thank you Mike for your answer. Then the desktop version does not bring much value, if any, compared to the web version. Am I right or am I right ? (Unless of course I can place components and connections at the speed of light and only a local program can cope with that).

@Siqo I find the desktop version much smoother than running on Firefox.  And my broadband is >50Mbps with good ping times so it's not that in the way. Some people say the Chrome version is much better but I never allow any Google apps on my machines as they start tracking your every move.

@andyfierman Indeed, I am aware that once my project has been saved on the server I can download it and save a local copy. My initial question was about using the EasyEda Desktop client locally. If I follow you the workload would look like this : Edit schematics locally --> Save schematics on server (required by "update PCB") --> Edit PCB locally (local editor downloads from server the data that was just uploaded)--> Save on server -->Download the whole project if I want to keep a local copy. Rather unefficient, dont' you think ?

I've not tried the Desktop Version but AFAIK you can save individual schematic and PCB files locally by just creating or opening them and then doing: ![image.png](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/ssVaMNOqNFHhYPmo8rHAO8QbIV7G60QnAI3W7Xbb.png) No internet connection required. In fact you can do this with the online version too. Clunky but functional.

@andyfierman Oh I hadn't tried that.  But I'll carry on running in the cloud as I will say EasyEDA's backup and recovery system is far better than mine.   I deleted something accidently the other day and it offered me a dozen different snapshots I could restore from.  Local working would lose all that.
