Why when I choose to directly output my board to JLCPCB via EasyEDA, they charge me $5, but when I generate the gerbers and download for the exact same board and upload it on my own to JLCPCB, the $2 deal is applied? I mean, it's not the end of the world, but it's a bit of an inconvenience and seems like a simple bug to fix.
That's probably because EasyEDA is defaulting to 10 units which is $5. It is 5 units for $2.
Both are an absolute bargain of course, now that you can get them in any colour.

Yep. I think that's fair enough really as for most people 9 of the 10 just go in the bin when making a first prototype. 5 also reduces the postage cost a bit so for most people it's an even better deal. But I agree it makes very low volume production using multiple orders of 10s a little less attractive which was probably their intention.
