Electrolytic SMD capacitor as basic part

Most designs need an electrolytic capacitor across the input power.  For 3.3V and 5V designs the basic part tantalum [C16133](https://lcsc.com/product-detail/Tantalum-Capacitors_AVX_TAJB107K006RNJ_100uF-107-10-6-3V_C16133.html/?href=jlc-SMT) is suitable, but for 12V or 15V supplies there is no basic part available so it costs $3 to put a capacitor on the PCB.  Could you select one SMD electrolytic of your own choosing, maybe 100uF or 220uF, 25V or similar, to put in the basic parts list so that everyone uses that one and volumes would be high enough to justify it being a basic part ?

Hello Mike ; The selection of the basic parts depends on the part's consumption, the most used parts (frequently ordered) stay longer time in our P&P machine feeders which eliminates the time taken to grab the part and install it to the feeder (no wasted time so no extra fees) and the part moves to become a basic part. The assembly dept. team members are the persons who are taking in charge the selection of the parts type (basic/extended) depending on the consumption history of the part. Please send an Email to henry[@jlcpcb.com](mailto:support@jlcpcb.com) and point to the part number that you want to add as a basic part, this is not guaranteed that it will be immediately moved to the basic type but it worth a try. Thank you Mike for the time taken to write to us about this topic, we are always open for new suggestions.

Thanks - email sent. I think the problem has been you have far too many different electrolytic capacitors so they all have low volumes.  Making one a basic part will move most usage to the one part.

@JLCPCBsupport  I'm afraid he didn't understand what I meant as he said the part is already set up.  Could you perhaps explain to him it would be good to have at least one electrolytic capacitor as a basic part.

@MikeDB Ok I will forward the request to the team and they will take the necessary measures, as I mentioned already this is not guaranteed that we will see an electrolytic capacitor in the basic part because it depends on the consumption but let's try anyway :)

Thanks.  I've a few other suggestions as well but let's start there as I think almost everyone uses electrolytics.
