I always do the routing manually anyway (see answer 3) Never Trust The Auto Router 3) Press the W key to manually route, press the L key while routing to change the angle of the trace. If you find routing a little difficult from say pin A to pin B, try it from pin B to A, it can make the world of difference and don't forget the thickness of the trace can be changed with the - + keys. I suggest starting off with a design that as 10-15 components and then just play around with it for a week or so trying all different options. Also, take a look at the HotKey shortcuts for hints.
