PCB Thickness vs Copper Thickness

If designing a board and using the standard PCB thickness (1.6 mm), this value is NOT the thickness (Thickness=1.6 mm) that one would input when calculating the trace-width (such as [https://www.4pcb.com/trace-width-calculator.html](https://www.4pcb.com/trace-width-calculator.html))? The thickness value on the trace-width calculator would be 1 or 2 oz/ft^2 (the only two options when ordering from LCSC)?

The thickness required to calculate trace width is the thickness of the copper not the overall PCB thickness. The thickness of 1 ounce copper is 0.00138 inches (1.38 mils or thou), approximately 35 um. 2 ounce copper is twice that thickness.

@andyfierman So the correct option would be to set the calculator to 1 or 2 oz/ft^2? Can this value be set anywhere in the Gerber file, or is it something that can only be set at check-out during the ordering of the PCB?

"So the correct option would be to set the calculator to 1 or 2 oz/ft^2?" If that's what the calculator asks for. Not all trace width calculators use copper weight. Some use thickness. "Can this value be set anywhere in the Gerber file, or is it something that can only be set at check-out during the ordering of the PCB?" This something you specify at the time you place the order.
