Greetings Everybody!
Hope everyone is doing good.
I have a query. I would like to know the units of the scale in the schematic. Is the ruler in centimeters or millimeters or inches?
Thank you in advance.
With regards and best wishes
Bob
To clarify:
## Schematics with a Border
### Ruler
If an A4 to A0, USLetter, USLegal (A) or USLedger (B) Border is put around the schematic then the Ruler across the top and left hand side of the schematic camvas is scaled to 1 division = 10mil (0.01 inch).
For example:
A4:

A3:

### Grid
The grid on the canvas is then on a 5mil (0.005 inch) spacing.
## Borderless schematics
If there is no border around a schematic then the ruler and the grid are unitless (i.e they are dimensionless) because there is no direct relationship between schematic symbols and their position within the schematic and the dimensions of physical components and their placements on the PCB.
Therefore physical dimensions have no meaning within a schematic.
The ruler and the grid are used only for positional references of elements within the schematic camvas.
