[SMT Assembly] USB connectors

I would love to have my boards SMT assembled including the USB connector! Given the ubiquity of these connecors, I would have expected to have some in basic or even extended parts. Are there any plans to provide common USB Micro B or type C connectors for SMT assembly?

@andyfierman Exactly, but available in the JLCSMT Parts Library so we can get them assembled by JLCPCB: [https://jlcpcb.com/client/index.html#/part](https://jlcpcb.com/client/index.html#/parts)

@[[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]), It looks like there are no connectors listed in: [https://jlcpcb.com/client/index.html#/parts](https://jlcpcb.com/client/index.html#/parts) Can you advise when these will be included?

Connectors are often placed and soldered in a second pass along with the thru-hole components using a hot air rake or something like that.  It looks like JLCPCB may not have added that to their offering yet.

@MikeDB True, but there are more and more SMT connectors. Since I doubt they will add thru-hole assembly any time soon, adding a few common ones that are typically not thru-hole (e.g. USB, FPC) to JLC SMT would be very handy in my opinion.

@DurandA Agreed there are more connectors, but every manufacturing manager will tell you it's always the second pass that is both a PITA and where mistakes happen.  For prototype and small quantities, and to keep costs down, I suspect JLCPCB have just gone for first pass for now until everything is well sorted.   I'm sure if you needed 10,000 made they'd happily add the connector :-)

I wish this was available also.  I don't have any way to add connectors assembled to my PCB.

@livingsynthesis For the moment our assembly service doesn't support the USB connectors, hopefully it will be available in the future :)

@JLCPCBsupport, I couldn't find **any** SMT connectors in the JLCPCB parts library either in EasyEDA or on the JLCPCB parts search. Is there a timescale for when SMT connectors will be supported in the assembly service?

@andyfierman Hopefully that we could make it possible to assemble connectors through our SMT assembly service, for now we don't have an exact date related to this action but it will be not in near future.

I just found [this post](https://www.eevblog.com/forum/manufacture/jlcpcb-no-smt-usb-connector/msg3243832/?PHPSESSID=m06fndaktedul34tukoi6ld2j7#msg3243832) on EEVBlog forum: > Dear all > We are very grateful for your attention to JLCPCB SMT services. We are on the road to improve it. We will add USB connectors, and it is expected to take two months to be available. It will support a variety of USB connectors. Of course, Type-c must in the list, it commonly used.As everybody knows, we move the SMT factory to a larger place, more SMT quantities available, isn't it an exciting thing? ^-^ > Please continue to support us, our beloved JLCPCB users. Is there an official statement about how the SMT assembly service will evolve? I'm looking forward to use USB connectors on my boards.

I join this request. Also waiting for micro USB SMT correctors being supported by JLCPCB assembly.

@warloofer Thank you for reaching out to us here ; We are considering all requests that we receive from users and JLCPCB customers, our Parts library is getting bigger that's a fact because we are developing it step by step by considering the needed parts, the received requests and for sure our assembly lines capabilities. Requests are not only related to new parts but to the whole assembly process so we are treating these demands step by step. Hopefully it will be there some connectors soon so stay tuned :) Thank you again for your comment.
