[SMT Assembly] USB connectors

I would love to have my boards SMT assembled including the USB connector! Given the ubiquity of these connecors, I would have expected to have some in basic or even extended parts. Are there any plans to provide common USB Micro B or type C connectors for SMT assembly?

Connectors are often placed and soldered in a second pass along with the thru-hole components using a hot air rake or something like that. It looks like JLCPCB may not have added that to their offering yet.

@MikeDB True, but there are more and more SMT connectors. Since I doubt they will add thru-hole assembly any time soon, adding a few common ones that are typically not thru-hole (e.g. USB, FPC) to JLC SMT would be very handy in my opinion.

@DurandA Agreed there are more connectors, but every manufacturing manager will tell you it's always the second pass that is both a PITA and where mistakes happen. For prototype and small quantities, and to keep costs down, I suspect JLCPCB have just gone for first pass for now until everything is well sorted. I'm sure if you needed 10,000 made they'd happily add the connector :-)

USB is hard to smt, they will not support it recently.@DurandA

@livingsynthesis For the moment our assembly service doesn't support the USB connectors, hopefully it will be available in the future :)

@JLCPCBsupport, I couldn't find **any** SMT connectors in the JLCPCB parts library either in EasyEDA or on the JLCPCB parts search. Is there a timescale for when SMT connectors will be supported in the assembly service?

@andyfierman Hopefully that we could make it possible to assemble connectors through our SMT assembly service, for now we don't have an exact date related to this action but it will be not in near future.

@foakgul Hello Yes we will consider some demands but it is not 100% guaranteed that all requests will be executed immediately, first we will start by adding some connectors regarding the new assembly lines then we improve it step by step the way we used to do. Stay tuned because the new year will start with some good improvements ^_^ We are counting on your understanding.

@dospalabras Hi , we plan to add more components this year , maybe USB connectors will be in jlc stock in the first half of the year. Currently ,we have 40k in stock parts . In the future ,we will support all components from lcsc and accept compoments provided by customers . -Stay stuned ! :)

@JLCPCBsupport, this is fantastic news. Now that you offer some THT components, can they placed top and bottom? I know the SMT parts can only be placed on one side, but due to the nature of THT parts, I presume that won't be the case. Thanks for all your hard work, my experiences with JLCPCB so far have been great!
