Silkscreen error, can't fix it

It appears that the switch I created has a while block in the silcreen over the switch, yet I can't see it when i look using layers to see just the silkscreen layer. it does not show up, so I can't change it, yet it appears in my PCB order, and they kept asking me if it was right. I told them no, and I sent them screen shots of the silkscreen layer, an the top copper layer, the while block does not show. I looked at properties, and the place where it says Fill, says no.  So they will make them with the white block over the switch in the silkscreen. I guess it could be worse. This is what they see, but I can't see it in the software.   This only shows up when I submit the board to be made. ![WhiteBlock.jpg](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/kLamEP4EiIgNuWTdBLOgBzvGtXNMKeUBWpcwOQsE.jpeg)

It has already been suggested five times that you post the URL to your footprint or a screenshot clearly identifying it in the Search Libraries tool so that it can be investigated. If you have created and saved this footprint using the PCB Lib Editor then it is already public so why are you so reluctant to post a link to it so that we can help fix it?

It appears that JLCPCB already made the boards, so I guess i am going to have a big white block over the top of the board. It is not going to make the boards useless, it is just going to make them look not so well done.

In: [https://easyeda.com/joe.massimino/20db-attenuator](https://easyeda.com/joe.massimino/20db-attenuator) There are two PCBs. Which one have you submitted?

I think these is a rendering bug in 3D View and in the JLCPCB Gerber Viewer with this particular footprint: DP3TJMEBAY: [https://easyeda.com/component/39b003bc2ff54434b6ea336ec872a2f6](https://easyeda.com/component/39b003bc2ff54434b6ea336ec872a2f6) Assuming it is: [https://easyeda.com/editor#id=f298c5c244c549dc81860970b4f6cede](https://easyeda.com/editor#id=f298c5c244c549dc81860970b4f6cede) then the problem appears to be cause by the top layer silkscreen crossing the 4 outer fixing holes. I have created an edited copy of your footprint that has 2 changes: 1. No **Net** assigned to any of the pads (i.e. the **Net** attribute for all the pads is left blank) 2. Silkscreen outline avoids all the outer fixing holes **then**: 3. Please delete your footprint: DP3TJMEBAY. 4. Change the Package attribute of DP3TSW in your schematic from DP3TJMEBAY to DP3TJMEBAY2. 5. The silkcreen block should then disappear.

@joe.massimino "JLCPCB already made the boards, so I guess i am going to have a big white block over the top of the board." They will probably clear the silkscreen away from the pads. I suspect that part of the problem with the block of silkscreen is a combination of the silkscreen overlapping the outer 4 pads and the placement of the footprint right at the edge of the PCB. However, it is worth pointing out that if you had posted the information about the project and footprints when it was first suggested to you that it would help to find and fix the various problems that you have been having with this project, you would almost certainly not have this issue in your submitted PCB.

The pads for the switch are oversized so the switch will fit regardless of any small errors in its footprint. i printed the switch, and I was able to insert the switch with almost no trouble, so i left it that way. Also, the switch body has to go right up to the edge of the board.

Also, if they leave the silkscreen off the pads, that will be fine, and better than a big white block over the switch location.

@andyfierman  Just to test what you said, I pulled the switch away from the edge, routed it so it was right, generated gerber files, and the white block is still in the silkscreen, although i can't see it in easy EDA, it is simply not there.

So I blaime the ERasyEDa software for this issue.  If I can't see it, i can't fix it.

"  Just to test what you said, I pulled the switch away from the edge, routed it so it was right, generated gerber files, and the white block is still in the silkscreen," That's not what I said: I have created an edited copy of your footprint that has 2 changes: 1. I missed out the step that you have to **Update PCB...** to bring in the new footprint but I assumed that you'd know to do that. I tried this out successfully in a copy of your project. I specifically did not change anything other than the footprint. I did not move it or do any rerouting.

"So I blaime the ERasyEDa software for this issue.  If I can't see it, i can't fix it." But you can see it. It's in the 3D Viewer and in the JLCPCB Gerber Viewer. What you didn't have the experience to do was to play with a few things like the pads net naming. the position on the board and the silkscreen outline and to keep playing until you found out what to do to fix it. OK, the white block of silkscreen shouldn't be there: that is a bug in the 3D Viewer and in the JLCPCB Gerber Viewer but as I said above, if you had made the information available as to exactly what project, symbols and footprints you were seeing this issue with, we could almost certainly have fixed the problem before you submitted the board.
