An illustration: It seems that extending a track at the ends of the track results in the extended track being merged into the original track but tracks extended from any intermediate vertices or from anywhere else on the original or newly merged tracks is not merged into the original track. Original track:  Add tracks to ends and at intermediate vertices then select original segment of track:  Then add tracks to intermediate vertices and to non-vertex points:  Then select original segment of track:  Only the tracks placed at the ends of the original track are merged.

hi now it is auto merge, you can try to disable the remove loop feature, it will not auto merge

@usersupport, But my images show that this auto merge only works at the ends if the original track and not when the new tracks are added from any other part of the original segment.
