Advice on designing circuit protection.

Hello All, I am designing a project which is for home use near a plant for use with a battery and I want to design in a protection circuit to prevent over voltage, under voltage, and over current. Ideally I would use an eFuse like the TPS256921DDAR but I cannot find any available in stock yet. I have designed what I think is a simple protection circuit using two n channel mosfets and a resettable fuse. [https://oshwlab.com/Julcatsi/protection-circuit-v1](https://oshwlab.com/Julcatsi/protection-circuit-v1)

This circuit is designed to accomplish over voltage protection, under voltage protection, and over current protection using simple components. The goals are negligible current draw from the circuit while running while being low cost and having few components. The circuit is designed to protect an atmega328P or other similar 5V microcontroller. There is a enhancement mosfet (Q1) which is normally open and closes when the gate reaches at least 2V. A voltage divider (R4 and R2) makes it so this mosfet will only close when the input voltage increases over 4V. There is a depletion mosfet (Q2) which is normally closed and opens when the gate reaches at least 1.8V. The voltage divider (R3 and R9) make it so this mosfet opens when the voltage increases over 5.8V, thus protecting the circuit. I chose a resettable fuse with a 150 mA trip current to protect the circuit from a short.

Please let me know if this circuit design will work and will not draw much current. Also, can I please get some input on the particular components I chose to use as this is my first time designing with these components and I was having troubles choosing the correct ones.

Here are the data sheets:

Enhancement Mosfet: [https://datasheet\.lcsc\.com/lcsc/1810171818\_Vishay\-Intertech\-2N7002K\-T1\-GE3\_C81445\.pdf](https://datasheet.lcsc.com/lcsc/1810171818_Vishay-Intertech-2N7002K-T1-GE3_C81445.pdf) Depletion Mosfet: [https://datasheet\.lcsc\.com/lcsc/2003241812\_Infineon\-Technologies\-BSP372NH6327\_C501499\.pdf](https://datasheet.lcsc.com/lcsc/2003241812_Infineon-Technologies-BSP372NH6327_C501499.pdf) Resettable Fuse: [https://datasheet\.lcsc\.com/lcsc/1811141110\_TECHFUSE\-nSMD005\_C70064\.pdf](https://datasheet.lcsc.com/lcsc/1811141110_TECHFUSE-nSMD005_C70064.pdf)

@julcatsi, I'm having a look at and a think about your circuit but a couple of immediate comments are: 1. Your +5V net and therefore the load, is not connected to the rest of the circuit: ![image.png](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/hSmkbUqTScfWPhg8JFD8QjFFVjRaT3nyoDvObcMb.png) so it is unclear where this net should be connected in your circuit. 2\. BSP372N is not a depletion mode mosfet: ![image.png](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/Gvfu4nqLDPCX5QNLiw53SVIqAzaOWoy9TNCbEYBT.png) [https://www.infineon.com/cms/en/product/power/mosfet/small-signal-small-power/bsp372n/](https://www.infineon.com/cms/en/product/power/mosfet/small-signal-small-power/bsp372n/)

3\. Never mind what the gate voltages are\, what are the Design Requirements of your circuit? What is the undervoltage lockout (UVLO) voltage? Is there hysteresis on the UVLO? What is the overvoltage protection (OVP) voltage? What exactly do you want to happen when you have an OVP? What is the current limit? How do you want the current limit to behave? Constant Current (self resets on removal of fault)? Foldback current limit? Latching overcurrent turn off? Auto-retry or manual reset? What tolerances do you require on voltage and current limits? To those questions into context, have a look at this project: [https://easyeda\.com/example/Uberclamp\_Schematic\_PCB\_and\_BoM\-r4YgysK2k](https://easyeda.com/example/Uberclamp_Schematic_PCB_and_BoM-r4YgysK2k) then read: [https://www.analog.com/en/products/lt4356-1.html](https://www.analog.com/en/products/lt4356-1.html#product-overview) [https://www.analog.com/en/products/lt4356-3.html](https://www.analog.com/en/products/lt4356-3.html)

If you need help designing this, please PM me or email me at my username at easyeda.com :)
