I get a DCR error between two copper areas. How is this even possible? In theory this should be impossible.

Do you mean a GND plane n a different layer from the one shown in your screenshot above?

@andyfierman It is.
First had trouble to understand where the issue was as this is a false DRC warning so nothing was obvious.

In the end it was a GND plane on the top which shouldn't even influence this area. Deleted it and made a new copper area and now the error is gone.
