Hi all,
When I add a component to a schematic, I set the prefix and name, and I can also add custom properties to the component using my choice of Key and Value.
When I create a PCB from the schematic, I can choose to display or not the prefix and the name on the silk screen layer in the Component Properties box on the right side of the window. Is there a way to display any of the custom properties as well?
For example:
I have an LED with a prefix "D1" and a name "5mm LED", and I create a custom property on that component in the schematic called "Color" with a value "Red".
On the PCB, the footprint shows fine, and I set "Display Prefix" and "Display Name" to "Yes". This all works as expected, and I get a component with the text "D1" and "5mm LED" on the silk screen.
What I want to do is have an additional text show on the PCB that says "Red", but I want this to pull its value from the "Color" parameter, so that if I change the parameter on the schematic to "Green", then update the PCB, the text on the PCB will say "Green".
I know I can manually add text to the silk screen, but it doesn't change if I update the schematic, and it is not associated with the footprint, so moving the footprint leaves the text object behind.
Is this possible - either directly, or using some appropriate syntax in the text field (like typing "{$Properties.Color}", for example)?
Thanks.
