Eagle schematic won't open
3720 29
Hey, I am trying to open an Eagle schematic but get an error message pop up saying "Unexpected error while converting. Perhaps unsupported file type or program bug". I have imported the PCB file (.brd) that comes with it but the schematic file (.sch) won't work. Can anyone fix this? I understand it may be due to it being made it an earlier version of Eagle but I can not fix this as I do not have a Windows or Mac computer (I only have a Chromebook and a few Pis). You can find the file here - [https://drive.google.com/file/d/14CapZC64mPc6NdjcD4u1Fwy7ozZu9eFL/view?usp=sharing](https://drive.google.com/file/d/14CapZC64mPc6NdjcD4u1Fwy7ozZu9eFL/view?usp=sharing). Thanks, Louis

For some reason I can't see the text you have copied but I presume it's this - ``. I thought Eagle version 6+ worked with easyeda. Thanks, Louis P

The parsing in the Forum can make a mess of things... When I pasted the text from the Eagle file, it showed OK. I didn't notice that the parsing had trashed it after I submitted the post. So we both had a lot of fun with that didn't we? But you're right, Importing from Eagle version 6 or later should be OK. * Can you relabel or repost this as a Bug Report?

=D Okay, thanks for the help. I will do that.

hmmm, schematics.io also rejects my file. Almost certain now its a problem with the file but what could it be?

@granbobbi22, No idea. Never used EAGLE. Ask Support @ EasyEDA . com can help? Where did the file come from? Could it be corrupted? Hacked? Is the design basic enough that it would open and be editable in the limited free version of EAGLE? Know anyone with a Linux/OS X/Windows PC who could install the limited free version of EAGLE to see if it will open in that and then maybe save it out in a different format?

Thanks for the help again. I got the file from here - [https://gitlab.com/kakar0t/audiosense-pi](https://gitlab.com/kakar0t/audiosense-pi), I can read all the text fine, no reason why it should be corrupted and although it can't be guaranteed I do hope it isn't hacked. If anyone could open it in Eagle to just confirm it at least works in Eagle that would be great. Thanks, Louis P

if you mean the package error issue when convert to PCB, that is because your library haven't the same package, you have to import the PCB file first, and extract the libs and import. then import the schematic, the editor will help you associated them automatically

I am not sure if you have misunderstood my problem. I have a .sch file I have downloaded and I want to edit it with easyeda but the conversion to an easyeda schematic is not working. However, I believe it is a problem with the file and not with easyeda but unfortunately I am unable to verify this. Thanks, Louis

Try again after updating to EasyEDA 5.9.42.

It should be automatic AFAIK. If so, it still doesn't work :(

@granbobbi22 If the imported schematic is so simple, could you not just clone the import that UserSupport has made? @UserSupport, Can you share your import of the project with this user so he can copy it?

If I download the file from: [https://gitlab.com/kakar0t/audiosense-pi/blob/master/hardware/AudioSense-Pi.sch](https://gitlab.com/kakar0t/audiosense-pi/blob/master/hardware/AudioSense-Pi.sch) then try to **Import File** I get: ![image.png](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/NUorXkMNGofUdewttQsnz8rXJn2KtAKpE3h9hWWe.png) If I try to **Import File and Extract Libs** I get: ![image.png](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/Htp5kgYsqdYDFeJhGuvfCY8EAoSCxNFHHsmQJOPI.png) If I try to **Extract Libs** then I get a list of hundreds of schematic (and PCB) libs to select and add to my library: ![image.png](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/2l5sP5ill6RKWF0wMMBcukCivLYgrlfBlWbnpcR3.png) I do not want to fill up my personal library with parts that I have no idea what they are so I have not done this step. Therefore, I do not know whether, if you import them and then go back and import the schematic file alone, that will then work.

At preset, please open the Eagle file at the Eagle, and save as: Save Copy for EAGLE 7.x... and then you will import it to EasyEDA. Thanks ![image.png](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/AMCHKaNf4tW4ls5u8QNetiunpfMyJteWpMY5ceaB.png)

Thanks for the help again. Unfortunately, the schematic the User Support took a picture of was just a general schematic import test AFAIK. There is a pdf with a picture of the schematic I am trying to use on it and it would take hours to copy. > At preset, please open the Eagle file at the Eagle, and save as: Save Copy for EAGLE 7.x... > and then you will import it to EasyEDA. Unfortunately, I do not have access to a computer which can run Eagle at present so I can not do this. Thanks, Louis
