EasyEDA does not allow board outlines to form cutouts

Hi.I'm trying to create a pcb in easyeda. My pcb has a little cut out on the side to permit cables to get on the top of the board. When i first added the copper area, it gave me the error "EasyEDA does not allow board outlines to form cutouts. Use the solid area tool instead". That is what i did. It still gives me the error. I even tried to retrace the outline. This is the board![d16b48259b87b5e94f43884832a80fef.png](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/Ln6C5tKMUc150IsXXjGobc0DDN3ufWqRNPh3MBTf.png) Did i make something wrong? Please let me know

Can we see the cut out you are trying to do?

Can't see what the problem is from your screeshot. Can you make your project public? [https://docs.easyeda.com/en/Introduction/Share-to-Public/index.html](https://docs.easyeda.com/en/Introduction/Share-to-Public/index.html)

@siri87,  woop2000's cutout is the grey area on the right side of the image with the 20mm dimension line above it.

@woop2000, Do you still get the error message of you delete just the NPTH Solid Region?

@woop2000, I suspect that somehow you still have a remnant of your earlier board outline that is overlapping your new board outline. Set the layer visibilities to only show the board outline layer. Select and then do CTRL+X to cut the main rectangular board outline and then look for a (possibly small) segment of the old board outline. CTRL+V to paste the required board area back again. OR: Set the layer visibilities to only show the board outline layer. Select and then do CTRL+X to cut the main rectangular board outline and then do CTRL+A to select the whole canvas in the Board Outline layer. DEL to delete the whole canvas in the Board Outline layer. CTRL+V to paste the required board area back again.

@andyfierman , Actualy, there were some problems with the modules. They had some board outline pieces so i changed the module. I don't see the error anymore... but when i place the copper area nothing happens. I don't know why, no errors show up but nothing happens.

I had seen these outlines in your screengrab but they were too indistinct to tell if they were not the solder mask around the pads. Some steps to try. If you clone the footprint/module, save it with a unique name and add a description and links to datasheets and one to five tags (search for your new part in Search Libraries then right click Modify); Delete all the little Board Outline elements; Save it; Update the Package attribute in the schematic symbol in your schematic; Do Update PCB... Then your PCB should be error free.

@andyfierman Thanks for the advices. I solved the error but now i have another error. When i place the copper area EasyEda does nothing. It just hangs there, not giving error nor making the copper area. So now i can actually produce the pcb but the copper area is not defined... that isn't a big problem but it is still a problem. Any suggestions?

@woop2000, Check that: 1. you have set the Copper Area to **Visible** in the PCB Editor canvas settings; 2. the **Net** attribute of the Copper Area is set to the same net name as the net that you want to connect it to.

@andyfierman The copper area setting is set to visible. Now it draws the copper area, it was just the Net name. Any methods to set all thing on the board to the same net automatically?

A new copper area defaults to the GND net. There's the Copper Area Manager: [https://docs.easyeda.com/en/PCB/Copper-Pour/index.html#Copper-Area-Manager](https://docs.easyeda.com/en/PCB/Copper-Pour/index.html#Copper-Area-Manager)
