Error message with basic simulation

Hello, I am just trying EasyEDA and I don't understand why I do not get a graph when simulating [this project][1]. I get this error message "unknown subckt: xu2 xu2_1 r1_2 0 0 xu2_5 volprobe1 v3_+ xu2_8 mcp601-ip". The simulation was running fine before replacing the default op-amp with the MCP601 from the library. [1]: https://easyeda.com/editor#id=OI0iAuMGmg

Ah. Sorry about this. If you do: **Super Menu > Miscellaneous > Netlist for Document > Spice...** you'll see that the MCP601 has not pulled in a subcircuit into the netlist. This is what a message like: >unknown subckt: xu2 xu2_1 r1_2 0 0 xu25 volprobe1 v3+ xu2_8 mcp601-ip means. * At present there is no spice model for the MCP601 in the EasyEDA library. We are working to bring you one that runs OK in ngspice but in the meanwhile you might like to try the **generic opamp test jig 140227** in: https://easyeda.com/normal/generic_opamp_test_jig_140227-jb5YSasmE.png This uses a generic opamp model which has uaser parameters that can be adjusted to model a very wide range of devices based on those given in the datasheet for the target device. We will let you know when an MCP601 is available. :)

Thanks. Actually it was just a test for me before trying larger circuits and my main reason to use EasyEDA was the large number of components in the library. How do I know which ones are fully compliant with the simulation and which are not ?

* A spice model search tool is in development but there are a couple of other major new features ahead of it in the development queue. Until they are rolled out, there are a number of ways you can deal with finding or adding adding spice models. * All the devices in the EasyEDA Libs have simulation models already attached. * Anything in the main library (Shift+F or from the home page) with a name ending in **EE** will have an in-house model attached. * You can attach a .model defined model to any device using the techniques described in here: https://easyeda.com/editor#id=NnhztL2kC in: https://easyeda.com/example/Current_source_devices-EFztNHZhy and: https://easyeda.com/editor#id=Ev5rpnJG2 in: https://easyeda.com/example/Jfet_amplifers-Qga4YfxPJ * You can attach a subckt model to any device using the techniques described in here: https://easyeda.com/editor#id=808qkCTN5 and https://easyeda.com/editor#id=6OkCwO5nF which are part of this project: https://easyeda.com/example/Spice_tutorials_02-YxrJ1Vd7p * if there are models you require, please let us know. :)

Thanks for the information. Actually I am looking for an instrumentation op-amp with variable gain and minimum gain = 1, such as AD8226, AD8420, MCP6N11-001, MCP6N16-001, MAX4208 or MAX4194 (I like the AD8226 because it has a wide power supply range).

Roughly how accurate do you you need the model to be? Could it be a simple behavioural model or do you need temperature, PSRR, CMRR etc., to be realistic?

A simple behavioural model would be fine.

The Analog Devices AD8226 runs fine in EasyEDA: https://easyeda.com/my-projects/aOysmga3l You can find the symbol by doing **SHIFT+F** and looking under user components. The description tells you that it has a spice model attached. In fact I have been very, very silly. It is already possible to search for symbols with spice models attached to them... Just do **SHIFT+F** and search for: ><your device name> spice model Try it with AD8226 spice model! :)

Great! Thanks.

But .... That won't find all the spice models available in EasyEDA. It will only find spice models *that are attached to symbols in the main library*. So, for example, even though there is a QBC547B model for a BC547B, you can't find it using SHFT+F because there is no dedicated symbol for it in the main library yet. More work needs to be done to either develop a spice model search tool or to add dedicated symbols with models to the library. Either way will take a little more time.
