Everything wrong with EasyEDA (aka. LCEDA)

Disclaimer: This post fits into the categories Feature Requests, Bug Reports, and General Discussion at the same time, but because i can't multiselect multiple categories, I had to chose just one. Note: All files mentioned in this post are attached to this public project: [https://easyeda.com/Krischna/Everything-wrong-with-EasyEDA-aka.-LCEDA](https://easyeda.com/Krischna/Everything-wrong-with-EasyEDA-aka.-LCEDA) Note: I'm using the EasyEDA Desktop Client Version: 6.4.5 BuildDate: 08/19/2020 on Windows 8.1. Bugs & Problems: 1\. “Change Routing Angle” is two times in the Hotkey\-list \(Hotkey\_bugs\.png\) 2\. EasyEDA doesn't let me save my hotkey settings if I remove hotkeys\. \(Hotkey\_bugs\.png\)    Why did I removed Hotkeys? Because i don't need to allocate every action on the keyboard. That would be too confusing for me. 3\. Copying a piece of schematic from a schematic file with the dark theme to a schematic file with the default white theme will end up to a visual glitch \(all wires and components will keep the color of the old theme\)\. The workaround there is to switch the theme\. 4\. There doesn't exist the possibility to allocate a hotkey with the “Update PCB” action\. 5\. There doesn't exist the abbility to save components privately or locally\.    There are workaround like those, but because you can't entangle the schematic symbol with the PCB footprint it's very tedious. ([https://easyeda\.com/forum/topic/How\_to\_create\_or\_edit\_a\_part\_and\_save\_it\_privately\-Qa7tPzj3b](https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How_to_create_or_edit_a_part_and_save_it_privately-Qa7tPzj3b) , [https://easyeda\.com/forum/topic/How\_to\_save\_Private\_schematic\_symbols\_and\_PCB\_parts\_\-sOHBTbtnF](https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How_to_save_Private_schematic_symbols_and_PCB_parts_-sOHBTbtnF)) 6\. Also offline projects from the Desktop Client get saved on the cloud with no way of disabling it \(according to [https://easyeda.com/page/download](https://easyeda.com/page/download)). That's quite a problem of privacy. 7\. A footprint causes EasyEDA to completely glitch out\, but only the Desktop Client and not the browser version of EasyEDA\. \(Glitchy\_Footprint\.mp4\, [https://easyeda.com/component/58ff2ce503c242d69afef6ac72d2daf9](https://easyeda.com/component/58ff2ce503c242d69afef6ac72d2daf9)) 8\. Weirdly\, if I switch to the top layer of the PCB I still see the silkscreen of the bottom layer and vice versa\. That's really confusing\! \(Silkscreen\_Top\.png \, Silkscreen\_Bottom\.png\) Because of the missing privacy and transpartency (No.5 and No.6), I thought of switching to another PCB design tool like KiCad. KiCad because it's Open-Source (in terms of privacy open-source is the best!) and apparently it's the best open-source EDA program that exist, but that's how EasyEDA gets you. EasyEDA allows complete imports (schematic and pcb with component libraries) from multible other EDA tools like Eagle, Altium and KiCad, but the hook is that EasyEDA only allows exports as a graphic (pdf, png, svg) and to Altium (another could based EDA tool). Only the PCB can be exported to KiCad with the help of third party tools like: [https://github.com/wokwi/easyeda2kicad](https://github.com/wokwi/easyeda2kicad) (only works with PCBs) [https://github.com/RigoLigoRLC/LC2KiCad](https://github.com/RigoLigoRLC/LC2KiCad) (?) So, it lets you easily switch from another EDA tool to EasyEDA, but once you're working with EasyEDA, you can't switch to a different EDA tool (like KiCad) without leaving all of your work on EasyEDAs servers behind, like component libraries, projects, schematics and etc. I also played around a little bit with KiCad and the UI is so confusing and annoying in comparison to EasyEDAs UI and I also directly found a bug that once executed loftlocks your hotkey setting so that you can't change your hotkeys anymore. Great! I'm halfway done with my quite complicated and big project on EasyEDA so if i would switch now to KiCad (just because of the privacy) I would need to start all over again from zero and also the KiCad UI is unhandy and annoying. Conclusion: EasyEDA is great and convenient to use (eventrough it's still a little bit glitchy and some features are mising and it isn't much customizable), but the missing privacy, transparency and control over your own data kinda ruins it.

"6. Also offline projects from the Desktop Client get saved on the cloud with no way of disabling it (according to [https://easyeda.com/page/download](https://easyeda.com/page/download)). That's quite a problem of privacy." That is not true. The Desktop Client saves Projects to the cloud in **Team Work** Mode. In **Projects Offline** mode, they are saved to a directory on your PC: ![image.png](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/WVvwgJEIGrlPIvDqo5h1hgJjQR0nd0pmcgEepuXD.png) Click on **More Details** or go to: [https://docs.easyeda.com/en/FAQ/Client/index.html#Client-Running-Mode](https://docs.easyeda.com/en/FAQ/Client/index.html#Client-Running-Mode) You can always ask about the **Full Offline** mode.

@andyfierman I thought it would, because on the download page there stands under the heading “File Security”: “Local backup automatically with document recovery at any time. Your files will also be saved on the cloud server, giving you double backup for you data security.” So that was then a misunderstanding, but components do still get saved on the cloud and they are also publically accessible. You wrote “You can always ask about the **Full Offline** mode.”, but if you click on “Contact Us” you'll get this message “EasyEDA stop provide on-premises hosting service temporary, when we ready, we will provide it again.” and the “[https://docs.easyeda.com/en/FAQ/Client/index.html#Client-Running-Mode](https://docs.easyeda.com/en/FAQ/Client/index.html#Client-Running-Mode)” page says about the Full Offline Mode this: **“Full Offline Mode** Doesn’t provide yet. Projects and libraries are saving at local. It is only provide for company. That will take some cost.” If I understood the broken english correctly, it is possible to obtain the ability to save component libraries privately/locally, but getting that software won't be easy and very expensive. Also the EasyEDA pricing page ([https://easyeda.com/page/pricing](https://easyeda.com/page/pricing)) doesn't give clear information about how expensive the Full Offline Mode may be, but definitely not cheap.
