Export Gerber does not rebuild the ground plane if it is out of date

I just had 2 sets of boards manufactured that are completely useless because of a this. If you add traces but do not force a ground plane update manually before exporting, then the plane will not give clearance for the new track, and will just short out. There isnt even a DRC warning that there is a short between the line and ground. So if you had just run a powerline to a component, you end up with a dead-short to ground, and no warnings / errors when doing the DRC check. To Reproduce Have a circuit laid out except one track. Save and rebuild your ground plane Add the last track Click export gerber If you save and come back to the PCB, it gets rebuilt when you log in, This affects when you add a track just before you export. For those wondering, I only noticed this after burning out components and causing quite a bit of smoke.

I can reproduce this but please note, at the bottom of the PCB Order page: [https://easyeda.com/order](https://easyeda.com/order) ![image.png](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/KeuxdmaqPTE1KZGgRfbTEJe9skTXH7gAUybqKSUy.png) Please also see (6) in: [https://easyeda\.com/andyfierman/Welcome\_to\_EasyEDA\-31e1288f882e49e582699b8eb7fe9b1f](https://easyeda.com/andyfierman/Welcome_to_EasyEDA-31e1288f882e49e582699b8eb7fe9b1f)

Sorry, I meant to say that I can reproduce the issue _and I agree that it is a bug_.

Hi Yes, the editor won't auto rebuild the copper area because of the browser performance limited. and the DRC didn't alert the DRC error, it is a known issue, we are working on it now, for fixing this , we need to do many jobs, if no special situation, at the next two big update it would be fixed. Thanks

It seems like this was fixed by popping up a dialog asking the user to rebuild the copper areas before exporting fabrication files. Unfortunately I am unable to export/order my PCB, because no matter how many times I rebuild all the copper areas (I have four of them and they overlap), the dialog keeps popping up when I try to export fabrication files :( What can I do? I'd really like to order my boards.

"...I have four of them and they overlap..." EasyEDA does not allow overlapping copper areas unless they are assigned to the same net. If they are assigned to different nets then you will have to redraw them so that they do not. Hi andy, all four copper areas are connected to GND. I can make fabrication files as long as I only have two overlapping copper areas on the top layer. As soon as I do exactly the same thing on the bottom layer too, I get "Please build the copper area" even if all of them are freshly built. I managed to isolate the problem here: [https://easyeda\.com/editor\#id=\|90523eb9e0f940c5854f4487d313b982](https://easyeda.com/editor#id=|90523eb9e0f940c5854f4487d313b982) Try to create fabrication files from this and you will see what I mean. The purpose of this is to keep clearance for a PCB antenna on a daughter board that would otherwise be shielded off by the copper areas on the main board. Thanks for your help!

I clicked my own link above and all of a sudden I had no problem creating fabrication files! It was impossible from within the editor instance it was created in, but then worked fine in the new instance opened by the sharing link ...

Okay, I found the problem and it is embarrassing: there was yet another copper area, far away (couple of meters) from the actual PCB. Nevermind, problem solved! (As a tip for other newbies like me: found it by using "Fit in window" in the zoom menu)

@regular Because of your copper area are the same net, if you set different net, it will show the error.

There should also be a button to "Rebuild all Copper Areas"
