Gamepad Contact Pads

Hey Guys.

I designed a Gampad in EasyEDA and it has those copper traces for those silicon rubber buttons on it. My only problem is, that the copper traces will get covered with Soldermask when JLCPCB produces it for shure. I designed those Pads even in EasyEDA but they are made out of Tracks. And on the 2D preview you can already see that they will get covered. How can I ensure that they wont get covered with Soldermask?

2 ways.

  1. The preferred way is to create the structure as Footprints in the Footprint Editor using only pads, all numbered as 1 and save it with a unique name then assign that Footprint to a suitable 2 pin switch, header or connector symbol in the schematic. You may find a suitable Footprint or Symbol and Footprint pair already exist in the library;
  2. Create the structure using pads then click the Exposed Copper button. You could save the structures a PCB Module to simplify reuse.

Hey Andy thanks for your reply.

I think I got a fundamental problem with my pad. Its made out of Arcs on the Top Layer and I get a DRC Error as I connect some connecting pads to them. Is there a propper way to solve my problem?

I put an excample of my pcb in this link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/98kq3qrjdos2fu0/AACkoCF3bl-KH79DDXmvEpToa?dl=0

There is a lib of my conductive Pad, the schematic and a pcb

Hope you or someone else can help

@severin.friedl,

The proper way to do it is as I have described in (1) above (except that there is a typo in it. Sorry!):

"The preferred way is to create the structure as Footprints in the
Footprint Editor using only pads, numbered only as 1 or 2 as required, and then save it with a
unique name then assign that Footprint to a suitable 2 pin switch,
header or connector symbol in the schematic. You may find a suitable
Footprint or Symbol and Footprint pair already exist in the library"

and there is more background in (2.2) and more detail in (2.3) in (2) in:

@andyfierman

Thank you!

Because they cannot be assigned pad numbers, the following elements of Tracks, Arcs, or Solid Regions should only be used to create copper elements in PCB Footprints if they are selected after placement, right-clicked on and then Converted to Pads;

This solved my problem, I didn't know that I have to right-click > convert to pad
