@Andyfierman - Thanks for looking into my issue. I know it's probably not the place to ask, but in the general world of designing software - is there any approach to this problem? I'm new to this and just want to learn what others do.

I'm not aware that the basic approach to solving it is much different in other EDA tools such as the FOSS Kicad or the commercial Altium. If you read the stuff I pointed you to that will tell you just about all you need to know, at least about how to deal with this issue in EasyEDA.
