How to save files locally

Greetings All, Been using EasyEDA for about a day now, and i lost a schematic that was about 1/2 done because i accidentally closed the window i was working in - i think. I tried to recover it using the document recovery button, but somehow ran into a problem and couldn't get the schematic back into my existing project. Since i had nothing but that schematic so far, i opened a new project, and now i'm back in busines. But i sure would like to be able to save my files on my own hard drive. I noticed in the Editor FAQ the question, "Is EasyEDA safe?" Item 2 under that says "You can save your files locally." and item 3 says "Multiple copies of every file are saved in your local database." I've spent the last half hour or so searching for some elaboration on those two statements. Would someone be kind enough to point me to a more detailed explanation of how to save my files locally, and where and how to access the local database? Many thanks in advance! Sam

Right-click on your Project > Download Project ![image.png](https://image.easyeda.com/pullimage/fBB33WjQWyMQ5La19nDO8p4yjE01sTR0ldODO2Sd.png) See also: [https://docs.easyeda.com/en/Export/Export-Schematic/index.html](https://docs.easyeda.com/en/Export/Export-Schematic/index.html) and all sections below that on "Export".

Greetings Andy, I'm curious about your role here at EasyEDA - i've seen your name all over the place on this website, as i searched for answers to my questions. I've already gotten a lot of good information from you! So i tried the Project > Download Project option, and it worked great. I see that the zip contains a json file and a readme with instructions - all very clear, and a pretty nice way to back up files on my hard drive. I also opened the Export page you linked, and i can see there is plenty of info there that will be very helpful. I really appreciate your quick response to my questions, and the obvious care you have for users, especially newbies like me! I'm really looking forward to learning to use EasyEDA, especially its simulation capabilities. All the best, Sam

Hi Sam, I've been helping out as part of the EasyEDA team for some years now. My speciality is in design, modelling and simulation. If you haven't found it already, this should help you out: [https://easyeda\.com/andyfierman/Welcome\_to\_EasyEDA\-31e1288f882e49e582699b8eb7fe9b1f](https://easyeda.com/andyfierman/Welcome_to_EasyEDA-31e1288f882e49e582699b8eb7fe9b1f) :)

If some company FORCES me to save my private work in the cloud, I consider it as an outrage. So I'm going to uninstall this shitty software.

@Boomer, Forgive me for saying so but your post suggests that you have not fully appreciated the options available when using EasyEDA. If you wish to use EasyEDA then you have the option to save your work locally as described in: [https://docs.easyeda.com/en/FAQ/Editor/index.html#How-to-save-my-file-to-the-local](https://docs.easyeda.com/en/FAQ/Editor/index.html#How-to-save-my-file-to-the-local) and: [https://docs.easyeda.com/en/Export/Export-EasyEDA-Source-File/index.html](https://docs.easyeda.com/en/Export/Export-EasyEDA-Source-File/index.html) Or you can use the Desktop Client: [https://easyeda.com/page/download](https://easyeda.com/page/download) which saves files locally but saves backups to the cloud for security. Having said that, no-one is forcing you to do anything. You are under no obligation to use EasyEDA. You have not been forced to pay anything to use it. If you do not want your files saved in the cloud then you are free to choose to not use this software. You are most welcome to use any of the other FOSS EDA tools such as KiCad or gEDA. Equally you are free to choose any of the other commercially available proprietary EDA tools.

@andyfierman, Thank you for the answer. All you wrote above is correct. But I'm sure you know there are not only positive opinions in the world. I still don't see a reason to force the users to save their data to the cloud. Of course you know that the users must save their work to the cloud before they get an opportunity to download the project and save it locally. There are no technical reasons to provide the service in this way. So I suspect there is only one reason: someone wants to enjoy access to all the projects (including marked as "private") with no limit under the canopy of "security". P.S. EasyEDA is good enough, I appreciated it. But the developers who make such good things for the people (and I believe in it) also have to respect these people. At least because the users bring megabucks to JLCPCB. I think you agree that success story of EasyEDA directly depends on cooperation with the companies producing PCB stuff. Please, don't try to convince me that it's totally free. It's just business.
