Import bitmap for pcb design

I have a picture I need to import into easyeda so I can lay out components properly. The image import tool is rather useless in this regard as it loads the bitmap as a mask, missing important features like pads, component placement, screw holes, etc... I don't need a mask, I just need to be able to use it as a reference/guide, I can manually place the components myself. Is this possible?

He just asked exactly what I asked, and the conclusion was: no it can't be done.

@Kaisha, "He just asked exactly what I asked..." True but that is why I referred you to that post. "...and the conclusion was: no it can't be done." Not true. You can import an image as a template but it will be represented as a 1 bit depth mask and cannot therefore represent greyscale. If you can enlarge your source image by N times then when you import it using the Import Image tool and then scale it back down by N times, you will find that the larger the value of N, the better the XY resolution of the final image placed into a PCB layer will be. You can then place the image onto the Document, Mechanical, Silkscreen or Copper layers. The imported image will only have 1bit depth and therefore cannot represent greyscale but if you can find a way to convert your image from greyscale to an old style newsprint (halftone) image made up from variable sized dots then you may be able to represent a greyscale image with enough resolution to be useful. One way to do this is: [https://docs.gimp.org/2.10/en/plug-in-newsprint.html](https://docs.gimp.org/2.10/en/plug-in-newsprint.html)

If this feature is important to you, please consider changing the Category of this topic to that of Feature Request.

That's not what I, or the other person, were asking. We don't want a mask, or pre-made track/object/polygon. We just want a sizeable FULL COLOR image that can be imported and used simply as a reference (ie. is not part/included in the final output). This is a common technique used in modeling: [https://i.pinimg.com/originals/67/07/42/67074233d28908c28f44681a167794a0.jpg](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/67/07/42/67074233d28908c28f44681a167794a0.jpg)

The answer is simply no, easyeda doesn't support it. Which is fine, but I just wanted to make it clear for anyone else who might stumble across this thread.
