Import new component from schematic

Hello, I have an existing schematic and a PCB layout. I want to add a new component to the schematic and update the PCB without changing the existing layout. How do I do that? When I try to update the PCB from the schematic all existing components are removed and I lose my component placements. Thanks, Geoff

@andyfierman Thanks, that "mostly " works. Only one component was moved off the board. The new component was of course off the board. Now to solve the failure to auto route after the update. I appreciate your help.
