Hi - sorry I have not explained myself clearly. CTRL+F (CMD + F on Mac) finds a component already in your project. I want to add a component which is not in the library and so I need to find a library with it in or download a library to add to the EasyEDA one which is already there. The tutorial says to use the jigsaw icon to do this (am I right?) but there is no jigsaw icon in the toolbar.

You're right about CMD+F on the Mac: that has not changed but the way you search libraries and find parts has been significantly improved.
The jigsaw icon has been superceded.
Do:
`F5`
to update to the latest Version of EasyEDA (V1.8.1 at 10th Aug 2014) then please have a look at:
