Yes that is how you wire it.  But why did you select that part there ?   I use that part in other places but the SB5200 or something like that would be better there.  In fact even an FR107 might be enough.

Did you mean the MBR2045CD or the MBR2045CT?

which implies that a 1N5819 or SMD equivalent would suffice.

Yes 1N5819 is another far more sensible choice.   All these CT devices are intended for rectification after the SMPS transformer and so have the wrong characteristics for the flyback diode.

@MikeDB @andyfierman   I replaced the MBR2045CD in my circuit with the component called 1N5819HW-7-F. I took what you said into consideration and it made sense but i needed an SMD component so i chose this one. Do you think this one is okay to use for my circuit?

The SMD version of the 1N5819 should be OK but it is up to you to work through the design equations in:

to verify your component choices.

Actually we are saying the MBR2045 isn't suitable at all so go back to the 1N5819 as suggested by the application note.

Sorry just saw your other post and now realise it wasn't you who changed to the wrong device.   Use the 1N5819 (or even an FR107 which is most people's default) anyway.
