MBR2045 Connection Problem

I really need help about it. I have tried to find information through datasheets but they seem to have only information about the pins, not the connection. I need to use MBR2045 Schottky Diode in my circuit, however i am not sure how to make the connection. I connected 2 pins to each other, and made it like 1 pin and connected it to ground. Is this a correct way of connection for Schottky Diode or am i doing it wrong? Yes that is how you wire it.  But why did you select that part there ?   I use that part in other places but the SB5200 or something like that would be better there.  In fact even an FR107 might be enough.

There does not appear to be any such device as MBR2045C**B.** Did you mean the MBR2045C**D** or the MBR2045C**T**? @MikeDB, The circuit is a copy of the first image in the earlier post by Ahmet.Aksoy here: [https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/Schematic-Component-Problems-Need-Some-Help-d5da77460d0b4d829778de4f6283faa8](https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/Schematic-Component-Problems-Need-Some-Help-d5da77460d0b4d829778de4f6283faa8) and looks to be loosely based on Figure 11 in: [https://www.onsemi.com/pub/Collateral/MC34063A-D.PDF](https://www.onsemi.com/pub/Collateral/MC34063A-D.PDF) which implies that a 1N5819 or SMD equivalent would suffice.

@andyfierman Yes 1N5819 is another far more sensible choice.   All these CT devices are intended for rectification after the SMPS transformer and so have the wrong characteristics for the flyback diode.

Thanks for your answers and sorry for my late reply. @andyfierman, by mistake i wrote its name incorrectly however i meant MBR2045CD. @MikeDB @andyfierman   I replaced the MBR2045CD in my circuit with the component called 1N5819HW-7-F. I took what you said into consideration and it made sense but i needed an SMD component so i chose this one. Do you think this one is okay to use for my circuit?

The SMD version of the 1N5819 should be OK but it is up to you to work through the design equations in: [https://www.onsemi.com/pub/Collateral/MC34063A-D.PDF](https://www.onsemi.com/pub/Collateral/MC34063A-D.PDF) to verify your component choices.

So you mean that i need to change my circuit or components with new ones because i replaced MBR2045CD with 1N5819? Or if i have done everything right with MBR2045, should everything stay the same for 1N5819?

Actually we are saying the MBR2045 isn't suitable at all so go back to the 1N5819 as suggested by the application note.

Sorry just saw your other post and now realise it wasn't you who changed to the wrong device.   Use the 1N5819 (or even an FR107 which is most people's default) anyway.

Other than replacing MBR2045 with 1N5819, do i need any parasitic components or should all of the other components stay still? So, all i need to replace is MBR2045 with 1N5819?
