When crossing over a menu with a drop-down with the cursor, the menu drops down as expected. The problem is that it doesn't go away when moving the cursor away from the dropdown. It works fine if another menu is hovered, but not anywhere else. The only way to get rid of the drop-down is to click somewhere. This is a real nuisance as just moving the cursor across the editor page can often trigger a drop-down.
