PCB with NO WIRES
1252 35
Dario Sermasi 3 years ago
My schematic has about 6 16-pin ICs, 18 capacitors, 36 resistors and the routing of the connection cables (THT format). I had the PCB made at a company where I worked (I'm the retired IT) and ... no wires in the PCB! I had looked at the PCB in 3D view (VERY COMFORTABLE!) without seeing the wires, neither in the component side nor in the soldering side. I thought it was the way to show me only the components and the holes, assuming that the connection wires are there. Instead the wires just there is none! I searched the manual and the forum, without finding help. I can attach the gerber, but ... I couldn't attach it. HELP!

@Dario.sermansi, Without sight of your project, there are too many possibilities for what you may have done wrong to be able to make a useful diagnosis. Please  help everyone to help you by making your project public as described in the main Tutorial: [https://docs.easyeda.com/en/Introduction/Introduction-to-EasyEDA/index.html](https://docs.easyeda.com/en/Introduction/Introduction-to-EasyEDA/index.html)<br> <br> and find the particular section on how to make a project public: [https://docs.easyeda.com/en/Introduction/Share-to-Public/index.html](https://docs.easyeda.com/en/Introduction/Share-to-Public/index.html)<br> <br> My first guess is that you created your schematic in EasyEDA and then converted it to PCB but did not then: 1. Route any tracks but just assumed that the ratlines showed routing, which they do not; 2. Did not do any of the essential checks described in (4) and (6) in (2) in the sticky forum topic marked as [Must read]: [https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How-to-ask-for-help-and-get-an-answer-71b17a40d15442349eaecbfae083e46a](https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How-to-ask-for-help-and-get-an-answer-71b17a40d15442349eaecbfae083e46a)<br> <br> You may like to read: [https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/Understanding-Ratlines-371bdbf646c54b23a57451eb05b2026d](https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/Understanding-Ratlines-371bdbf646c54b23a57451eb05b2026d)

You could post some screenshots of your PCB in the PCB Editor and also showing all the layesr in the Layers palette. "How do I include a screenshot on this forum?" The simplest way (although you will end up with a big image which may have what you are trying to show dwarfed by its surroundings) is to press the "Print Screen" key to grab a snapshot of your computer screen and then click on your Forum post and do CTRL+V to paste it straight into the Forum post. A much better option is to install a copy the excellent and free [Greenshot](https://getgreenshot.org/) and let that take over the usage of the "Print Screen" key. Then you can grab the area that you want to show, do "Copy to Clipboard" and then click on your Forum post and do CTRL+V to paste it straight into the Forum post.

@dario.sermasi2012, Sorry but as I suggested in my initial reply to you, there are no tracks on your PCB because you have converted your schematic to PCB but have not then routed it so only the ratlines showing the connectivity exist: ![image.png](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/uo126lpUIhmZ7Ix2tVvPd2151WKuaUB7rmPFNhMN.png) You failed to notice this because you had not read the documents pointed to in (2) in: [https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How-to-ask-for-help-and-get-an-answer-71b17a40d15442349eaecbfae083e46a](https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How-to-ask-for-help-and-get-an-answer-71b17a40d15442349eaecbfae083e46a)<br> <br> and therefore did not follow the advice to learn the tool by starting off with a simple dummy project and to then follow the recommended Design Flow (in 1 in 2 in the above link) and to then carry out the essential PCB checks (6 in 2 in the above link) which would have helped you to find this mistake. Please note also that: 1. your schematic could do with a little tidying up to make it easier to read;  2. you need to add a 100nF power supply decoupling capacitor across the VDD/VSS pins of every IC, not just one for the whole board; 3. you need to add a 10uF to 100uF electrolytic bulk power supply decoupling capacitor across the VDD/VSS supplies where the enter the board i.e. at the RJ45 connector; 4. Capacitors C14 - C17 are connected to R24 - R27 respectively across VSS/VDD but do not connect anywhere else. Therefore they serve no purpose in this design. 5. you have text in top layer copper outside the board area. If you want to annotate the PCB, this text should be on a Silkscreen or the Document Layer. Apart from the notes above, the schematic looks well documented and seems to have converted to a PCB OK so if you read the documentation and follow the procedures and checks, your second PCB should be OK. If you cannot ask your old company to make it again then using the built-in EasyEDA design to JLCPCB fabrication process is a low cost way to get high quality PCBs. You can try using the autorouter but your design is quite complex so careful hand routing may help avoid the problems with clock net routing and other potential crosstalk issues that careless use of autorouting can cause. It is unclear what clock frequency is being used so there could be problems with signal integrity due to the use of a single ended, unterminated clock signal donw an unknown length of cable.

As usual, THANK YOU VERY MUCH INDEED. While I was putting you among the members of my project, you wrote me all the info! Now I have to study everything and I'm sorry if I didn't study well, but EasyEDA does a lot and, yes, I'm a retired computer scientist. For a while I will not write, as I have to study !!! Thank you again,

Here I am ! As indicated, I have studied everything, in particular Autoroute. I have no mistakes now. I followed all of Andy Fierman's instructions (thanks!); particularly: 1) your schematic could do with ...; done 2) you need to add a 100nF ...; done 3) Capacitors C14 - C17 are connected to R24 - R27 ... checked, now everything seems ok As always, Andy has access to the entire project

@dario.sermasi2012, If you want people to review your project, why not make it public? :) You have an unintentional short circuit on the VDD net: ![image.png](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/0LgpU0qkSrwUYXkZbEFABVhGkhBT4eL09f6vP8zS.png)

Made the correction. I am unable to make the project public. I choose the whole project (within which the schematic and the PCB are), right click, "Manage project", "Share". It asks me for confirmation; I say yes. Then it goes into 'timeout'. Now I'm going to bed (eh, finishing an EasyEDA project is tiring!); I need help tomorrow. Always thank you and ... good night, Dario

20211106 11.18 am in Europe. I tried again, but the problem is always the same: if I use the "share" and give the confirm, I wait a little and receive the message 504 Gateway Time-out I don't know how to go on. Thanks, Dario

If you are using the Desktop Client in Team Work mode, try opening your project in the online client in the browser and sharing it from there.

An info: how can i get an email if someone asks me for help? A hint (just a hint): insert AutoRoute within EasyEDA as an extension, so as not to have to start two programs

You get an email notification if someone: * adds you to a project; * replies to a topic that you started;  * sends you a personal message (PM) via EasyEDA. Please check your Notifications and Messages in your User Centre. I have already replied some days ago to your PM about atartingvtge autorouter. :)

In addition, the project has disappeared from the list of my projects (no problem: the project made public was an exact copy of my finished project). Obviously I did something wrong. I can read the answer only tomorrow afternoon (in about 18 hours).

Ok, I've read everything: my "share" seems to be fine. Requests: 1) the project I made public has disappeared from the list of projects I have (no problem: it was an exact copy of mine, only the name ended with "PUBLICCO", english PUBLIC. Anyway, via the web, you can see everything well and is the project I wanted to make public. 2) I tried to edit the project via web and it can be done (Is it the version of EasyEDA via "web site"?) Can I download the whole project locally? It's just my curiosity. Thanks for everything, Dario

@dario.sermasi2012, It is very hard to lose anything completely in EasyEDA.  Please check out my earlier post about Documrnt Recovery and the recycle bin. About saving locally: [https://docs.easyeda.com/en/Export/Export-EasyEDA-Source-File/index.html](https://docs.easyeda.com/en/Export/Export-EasyEDA-Source-File/index.html)<br> <br>

@dario.sermasi2012, Oshwlab is like a different way to access - and open in -  EasyEDA projects. The project you see at oshwlab.com is the same one you see and work on in EasyEDA once you have opened it.
