PCB text position

What determines the position of text in PCB layout? i.e. R1, R2 etc etc. When creating a custom PCB lib how do I specify the placement of the prefix? When laying out a series of resistors side by side for example, it's a mess that the text is now imposed on the resistor next to it and having to move them one by one is ridiculous. Ideally, I'd like to have the text centered on the component itself. Love the porn music on the tutorial vids BTW!

select components then go to top menu bar and select  EDIT > PREFIX POSITION > CENTER etc   or EDIT > NAME > POSITION > CENTER.
