When i select a pad and add it to the PCB, there is no hole in it. When I change the hole size in the Pad Properties field, it immediately reverts to 0mm and refuses to let me have a hole in the pad. How do I get a hole in a pad?
SMD pads can be created on top or bottom layers only. They have no holes.
All Layers pads create pads on all the pcb layers that have been set up in the Layers setup and they are connected by a plated through hole.
If you need a SMD pad with a hole then you could place an SMD pad and then place an All Layers pad or a via in that SMD pad.
\* However\, please note that such contructions directly in a PCB may be overwritten by updates from the schematic if the appropriate pcb package has not been created and is not called up by a corresponding symbol in the schematic\.
