Photo as background during PCB design.

Is it possible to insert a photo as a background in the PCB design window? I have an old project for which I do not have an digital PCB project. So I would like to insert a photo of the tile as a background and "recreate" the project, setting the elements as they were on the old project. Of course, this photo is only needed for the time of designing the PCB on the computer.

See: [https://docs.easyeda.com/en/Import/Import-Image/index.html#Import-Image-to-PCB](https://docs.easyeda.com/en/Import/Import-Image/index.html#Import-Image-to-PCB)<br> <br> For best results make the source image several times over sized (e.g.10x), import it then scale it back down in the Image Import tool. Import it to the Document or mechanical layer. Colour or monochrome images can be imported but obviously the resultant image will be monochrome. You could also try (2) in: [https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/Extension-User-Extensions-for-EasyEDA-Summary-9e065b68316f4491a3911dc6204be31e](https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/Extension-User-Extensions-for-EasyEDA-Summary-9e065b68316f4491a3911dc6204be31e)<br> <br> Note that we do not recommend using an image as a template to reproduce a PCB. The recommended way is to create a properly constructed schematic first, check it against the Essential Schematic checklist (4) in (2) in: [https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How-to-ask-for-help-and-get-an-answer-71b17a40d15442349eaecbfae083e46a](https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How-to-ask-for-help-and-get-an-answer-71b17a40d15442349eaecbfae083e46a)<br> <br> then do Convert to PCB..., route it then check it against the Essential PCB checklist (6) in (2) in: [https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How-to-ask-for-help-and-get-an-answer-71b17a40d15442349eaecbfae083e46a](https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How-to-ask-for-help-and-get-an-answer-71b17a40d15442349eaecbfae083e46a)<br> <br> then submit it for fabrication. I do not mean a picture to be placed on the board during the production process. What you write about is well known to me. Besides, such a picture can only be black and white. I mean a color or grayscale image that can be helpful in reproducing an already existing PCB (reverse engineering). Yes, I know what you are writing about. I have the correct diagram already prepared in EasyEDA. I mean PCB design. The PCB I want to copy has been designed very well and I don't want to reinvent the wheel. Unfortunately, I do not have its digital design and I need to make some minor changes.

"...a color or grayscale image that can be helpful in reproducing an already existing PCB..." As I explained above: Import it to the Document or mechanical layer. and: Colour or monochrome images can be imported but obviously the resultant image will be monochrome. As can be seen from the Image Import tool, greyscale output is not supported. Or you can try importing the image in svg format using the extension I identified.

That's what I'm trying to do with the SVG file. Additional work because photos in SVG are not necessary to make such a file and this is an additional big work. Besides, the import function in SVG loses details. For example, after importing, instead of the 44 pins of the ATmega processor, I see 4 oblong spots, other pad shapes are also changed from rectangles to ovals of only approximate size. The effect is bad. Later I will show pictures of what it looks like ....

Are you using Andreas Berhofer's svg import script?

Hi EasyEDA doesn't support this feature, maybe sprintlayout as you want

@UserSupport, @Hypno, For clarity: EasyEDA supports the import of colour, monochrome and greyscale images and with the help of a user extension, SVG format files. What EasyEDA does not support is any other output to the PCB than a 1 bit depth monochrome image. The resultant image can be placed into a copper, silkscreen, soldermask, mechanical or document layer.

And I mean something like an additional layer visible only during design, on which I could put any image (with attributes: X position, Y position, width, height, transparency). The image would always show under all other layers. This layer would serve no other purpose than as a background for the time of PCB design.

@Hypno, What you describe is not currently supported. If you would like to see these features and functions introduced then please post your requirements and suggestions for capabilities as a Feature Request.
