Reinforced pads for XT60 connector

Hi, I'd like to create pads to anchor an XT60 connector onto a PCB, and I was hoping someone could give me some pointers. Here's an example of what I'm talking about: https://www.dquad.nl/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Dquad-Obsession-13-copy-2-uai-516x290.jpg Notice that there are a couple large pads on the right side of that board where the XT60 connector can be soldered to. The pads have holes (plated I'm assuming) in order to create extra strength where the connector is attached, and keep the pads from ripping off the board if the connector is bumped. What would be the best way to create a pad like this? Would it be a copper area on the top and bottom layers, and a bunch of vias to connect the two together? Or, would it be better to use holes instead? Thanks in advance for the help!

Search for 6MMPAD, open it in the PCB Lib editor and then study it to understand how it's constructed. You have to CUT the top and bottom layer pads to see the vias. You can PASTE them back in but then you have to reposition then. If you are just studying then if you UNDO then they will be replaced where they came from. The are 3MMPAD, 8MMPAD and 10MMPAD versions. Note that they have associated schematic symbols.

Thanks for the help, I'll give it a shot!

You have to place the vias far enough inside the pad area that the clearance around them does not extend outside the pad area. Difficult to explain but easy to understand if you play with the via positions and see what happens. :)

Thanks for the help, I think it's going to work: ![XT60][1] [1]: /editor/20170906/59aed6fa4c9cc.jpg

Well done. * The pads look good but be careful! You have put the text as copper on the top layer. Are you sure this is what you want rather than putting the text as Top Layer **Silkscreen** (And/or bottom layer silkscreen optional)?

Thanks, I caught that a bit earlier. I was wondering why the text was red, and then I noticed it was on the top layer, so I moved it to the silkscreen layer.
