Requesting a second set of eyes for my ATOM sensor "Hat" Circuit to PCB

While not my first board it is only my 3rd and the 2nd was a reprint of my first because I made a stupid mistake. So learning from my mistakes I thought I would ask for some extra eyes to make sure I didn't miss anything obvious. This is, I think, pretty straight forward. I have a number of Atom M5 Lites laying around and I wanted to create a nice package that would allow me to measure T&H for my Home Assistant. With that in mind I designed the PCB. I picked the Capacitor and resistor and LED based on what were "Basic" parts so hopefully I didn't make any crazy mistakes. Since the ATOM is based off of the ESP32 and that's a 3.3V logic chip I hope I'm safe in leaving off the voltage shifter. I didn't see anything on the SHT40 which indicated that it drew more than the 100mA that the 3.3V pin on the ATOM can provide. The link to my project [https://oshwlab.com/quickstar77/m5sensorshield](https://oshwlab.com/quickstar77/m5sensorshield) One of my concerns is if having pins connected to the GPIOs that I'm not using will cause issues. Should I attach them to ground or maybe a resistor? ![Schematic for Board](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/Fab1yb5EWySAn2z2KA2vtxUBP6nSSbbo2kbrMsYO.png) ![Top Render](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/PvvUmNqWFyUv81reHA859S2bZvjIT9AcETLE88Dy.png) [SHT40](https://sensirion.com/media/documents/33FD6951/63E1087C/Datasheet_SHT4x_1.pdf) [ATOM Lite M5stack](https://docs.m5stack.com/en/core/atom_lite) [Capacitor](https://datasheet.lcsc.com/lcsc/2211101700_YAGEO-CC0603KRX7R9BB104_C14663.pdf) [Resistor](https://datasheet.lcsc.com/lcsc/2206010045_UNI-ROYAL-Uniroyal-Elec-0603WAF1002T5E_C25804.pdf) [LED](https://datasheet.lcsc.com/lcsc/1811101510_Everlight-Elec-19-217-GHC-YR1S2-3T_C72043.pdf)

I don't understand what you are doing but note two things I don't "get". 1\. Both SDA \(JP1\.4\) and SCL \(JP2\.4\) are shown connected on the schematic but not on the board\. 2\. There are no pullups shown on SDA and SCL\. You appear to only have power lines connected.

Can you configure the unused gpo pins as either inputs with internal pullup/ down or as open drain outputs so that they do nothing as outputs but are not left floating as inputs? You seem to have turned off spokes on the Copper Area so there are no thermal reliefs on the ground pads. This will make soldering those pads difficult. Check your Copper Area spoke setting in the right hand panel.

Hi! Here is my suggested improved version: ![image.png](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/1lIojz4n7NKa7ymG8aSS3aSAGHLV5M8WAtPR1baG.png) And the PCB: ![image.png](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/modkXU08qQao3eeACcsSWe2ekF2AXntigyutXrZW.png) Improved version is found here: [https://oshwlab.com/markus_jidoka/m5sensorshield](https://oshwlab.com/markus_jidoka/m5sensorshield)

Regards, Markus Virtanen HW / Electronics Designer
