Simulation

Hi there. I want to know if I can proceed with PCB conversion with simulation errors? Will my PCB work if wirings and components are all correct? I used an 8-pin IC socket and I bought my ICs separately, is this gonna work? Got some errors on the IC sockets when I run simulation, where some IC pins are not connected to anywhere because I used only pins 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8. What should I do to correct this, though my connections are fine. Can I proceed to PCB manufacturing with errors?

Without sight of your project it is not clear what the issues may be. To get the best experience using the EasyEDA forum, please read: [https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How-to-ask-for-help-and-get-an-answer-71b17a40d15442349eaecbfae083e46a](https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How-to-ask-for-help-and-get-an-answer-71b17a40d15442349eaecbfae083e46a)

and the documents it links to including, to understand how to use simulation in EasyEDA, the [Simulation Tutorial](https://docs.easyeda.com/en/Simulation/Headings/index.html). Unless you are modelling connectors including their parasitic resistance, capacitance and inductance then you should not be trying to include connectors and sockets etc. in your simulations. Most basic simulations are abstracted from the physical aspects of the PCB, For example they treat all wires and voltage sources as zero impedance, RLC parts as ideal with no stray capacitances to ground or coupling between them (unless sepcifically defined for sets of inductances). Simulation warnings and error messages may be caused by a number of factors such as convergence failures, syntax errors in spice directives and statements or device naming, spice pin mapping errors between the spice symbol and the spice model associated with it or just mistakes in the circuit connectivity (wiring errors). A simulation failing to produce the expected results but with no warnings or errors can be caused by many more things such as wiring errors, user expectations being incorrect due to misunderstanding some of the limitations of simulations versus the real world behaviour of devices and things like switches and external test equipment.

To ensure that your non-simulation schematic is suitable for conversion to a PCB please read (4) in (2) in: [https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How-to-ask-for-help-and-get-an-answer-71b17a40d15442349eaecbfae083e46a](https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How-to-ask-for-help-and-get-an-answer-71b17a40d15442349eaecbfae083e46a)

To ensure that your PCB is suitable for submission to manufacture, please read (6) in (2) in: [https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How-to-ask-for-help-and-get-an-answer-71b17a40d15442349eaecbfae083e46a](https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How-to-ask-for-help-and-get-an-answer-71b17a40d15442349eaecbfae083e46a)

@andyfierman Hi. Thank you for replying to my post. I put my link to the project below for your viewing. Trying to figure out and understand the errors to be able to fix them. Appreciate your help. Thanks a lot! [TOD-1 PUBLIC DRAFT - EasyEDA open source hardware lab (oshwlab.com)](https://oshwlab.com/vrowsky27/private-draft)

First thing to point out is that you cannot simulate your schematic because it has no spice symbols in place for whatever the devices are that go into the 8 pin sockets. Second thing to say is that without the schematic symbols for the active devices it is pure guesswork as to if your schematic is "correct". You have a net called +9V which short out D9 and R8. You have a LED with the cathode not connected to anywhere. Assuming you are using Dual opamps then you must not leave unused devices unconnected. Please refer to the manufacturer's datasheets for advice on connecting unused devices. If you are using dual opamps, why do you need two packages in a 2 opamp circuit? Why is the OUT pin of the pot defined as not connected? You have no input, output or supply connectors. On the PCB the area over to the lower tight with 4 top layer tracks shaped like lollipops and with pads in sets of 3 is not going to work. It will cause severalmproblems and all sorts of DRC errors. I suggest you read (2.2) in (2) in: [https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How-to-ask-for-help-and-get-an-answer-71b17a40d15442349eaecbfae083e46a](https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How-to-ask-for-help-and-get-an-answer-71b17a40d15442349eaecbfae083e46a)

to better understand the relationship between Schematic Symbols and PCB Footprints and how to deal with off board components such as pots and socketed devices.

Many thanks for the help Andy. But I can't find the tutorial for dealing with off-board components. I need to make pads for my footswitch and jacks, but I can't find something dealing with of-board components. Really appreciate your help.

It's the Appendix in (2.2) in (2) in: [https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How-to-ask-for-help-and-get-an-answer-71b17a40d15442349eaecbfae083e46a](https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How-to-ask-for-help-and-get-an-answer-71b17a40d15442349eaecbfae083e46a)
