I find that I spend a good deal of time searching through extensive lists of footprints to find candidates for the specific part in my designs. I often compromise by using footprints that I'm familiar with, because I've used them before, or have made myself. I feel sure I've probably recreated footprints that already exist within the EasyEDA libraries or if I'd taken even more time I could have come across them. I recognise that one is presented with a pictorial representation of the footprint once it is selected in the assignment window, but what I'd really like would be a selection of boards I could load, on which are place all of the available footprints. If the boards were each to contain say a category of parts .."Headers"..or " TH Transistors, " for instance, one could quickly spot the ideal candidate. This becomes particularly tricky when choosing footprints for TH capacitors and resistors..or a PCB mount Mains Transformer, where standardisation is poor. By contrast, finding a SOT-23 footprint is very straightforward. Do you know whether someone has already done this and shared it...or has EasyEDA already thought of this. Any suggestions welcome.
