No real design at the moment, I was just playing to see how to achieve it. Just tried the above and assuming I did it correctly I just see a copper rectangle on the photo view and no text.

Justyn, To clarify, you want to put text on a copper layer (i.e. in copper instead of as silk screen) but you want the copper to not have solder mask over it so that it ends up with whatever the board finish is such as HASL, ENIG etc. Is that correct?

@andyfierman Yes, that's correct. Kind of a text shaped pad or text shaped hole in the solder mask if you like.

Hi Justyn, I have tried the technique described by Dillon above (and now in a little more detail in the new FAQ: https://easyeda.com/Doc/Tutorial/FAQ.htm). Although it does not render correctly in the Photo Viewer, it **does** come out correctly in the Gerber files. If you click on the `Fabrication Output...` button: ![enter image description here][1] this will open the PCB Order page: ![enter image description here][2] If you then click on the blue `Gerber-viewer` text you will be able to see the Gerber files for each layer of your PCB - specifically the top and bottom layers - where you'll find the copper text and the aperture you have made for it in the solder mask layer.
