Using the copper area for certain connections

I have successfully created a 2-layer board and have added a copper area to the non-component side. But I notice that there are several cases where the copper could eliminate a trace (ie, the ground connections for several components). How do I eliminate those traces and make those connections directly to the copper?

Assign the same net attribute to the copper area as assigned to the net you want the copper area to connect to. So if you want the copper area to connect to the GND net, enter "GND" as the net attribute of the copper area.
