If I have an unlinked (i.e. Normally Open / NO) solder joint, all the NET's are fine in the the PCB layout design:

However, I need the solder joint to be joined/linked/Normally Closed (NC) by default, as follows:

But in one case, using the above solder joint component, I then get a NET error when running the DRC check in the PCB design view:

If I use a slightly different method in my schematic for the NC solder joint:

This clears the DRC Error but then the NETs on this trace are all treated as GND, which is also not what I want as this prevents the user from switching the NO with the through hole DB9 connector.
I cannot find a way around this other than allowing for that DRC error.
SO... what is best practice here.
