Looking for a component file for a T-10 or V-2 lamp socket.  It is a twist in lamp socket  mounted on a PCB it is used in Pinballs and Auto dash panels..  I looked for a data sheet and can't find that either.  This socket holds lots of lamps, like 555 lamps.  Thanks for any help.

Please read: [https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How-to-ask-for-help-and-get-an-answer-71b17a40d15442349eaecbfae083e46a](https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How-to-ask-for-help-and-get-an-answer-71b17a40d15442349eaecbfae083e46a) If it is not PCB mounted then it will not - and should not - be in the library. If it is PCB mounted then please post a link to a datasheet for it.

@andyfierman It is PCB mounted. I can not find a datasheet for it.  I Looked a lot to no success, hoping for help here.

In that case you'll have to measure one and make your own PCB Footprint and Schematic Symbol as described in the Tutorial and in more detail in (2.3) in (2) in the link above.

Here is a link to what the T10 Lamp socket looks like.  It is 13mm or 1/2 inch hole.   twist lock.  Can't find a data sheet anywhere.  I see pcb out there with the cut out for the lamp see my 2nd link. link to pics of the T10 lamp holder:  [https://www.aliexpress.com/i/32374997927.html](https://www.aliexpress.com/i/32374997927.html) link to pic of a pinball pcb that has the cut out for the T10 lamp holder:  [https://pinballreplacementparts.com/products/lamp-array-board-replaces-28-separate-lamp-sockets-on-the-bally-kiss-playfield](https://pinballreplacementparts.com/products/lamp-array-board-replaces-28-separate-lamp-sockets-on-the-bally-kiss-playfield)

@andyfierman All good info and thanks for making the footprint for that lamp holder.  I am new to making PCBs and may have to try and make a footprint for this lamp socket.  Just hoping it was already out there.

Don't just look at amateur suppliers like ebay, Amazon and Aliexpress etc. Look at the professional suppliers who usually have datasheets. Sorry, I posted the same datasheet link twice above. It should have been: [https://docs.rs-online.com/7e60/0900766b80967495.pdf](https://docs.rs-online.com/7e60/0900766b80967495.pdf) which was on the: [https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/indicator-lampholders/0335971/](https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/indicator-lampholders/0335971/) page anyway. These seems to be for the same lamp but are different sized from the holders you've found. Looks like there are several different size holders for the same size of lamp. So before you can design the PCB footprint, If you're not buying to a datasheet then you need to measure what you have bought to see which one it is. This is why I do not recommend buying from places unless they give a datasheet for the part: it just wastes so much time and effort. This company (which supplies to RS): [https://www.jkllamps.com/index.php?route=product/search&filter_name=socket](https://www.jkllamps.com/index.php?route=product/search&filter_name=socket) has lamp dimensions too to cross reference: [https://www.jkllamps.com/incandescent/glasswedgelamps](https://www.jkllamps.com/incandescent/glasswedgelamps)

Thank you so much andyfierman for all that info.  You got me so close.  I see you are having the same problem.  Can't find the info for the T10 lamp socket (13mm hole) Funny thing, it is most common.   Used in 100's of car dash lights and 100's of pinball games.  I have to use this item, so I have to find the data or make my own footprint.  I am new to this PCB making so this will be a major task for me.  Took me over 8 hours to make a simple PCB with 10 LED's, one resistor and a head pin connector.  The 2nd PCB only took me 2 hours with 15 LEDs, one resistor and a head pin connector.  The learning cure is bending?  If I post a drawing here with measurements is someone willing to make a schematic and PCB footprint?  One problem with this item is the cut out, its odd in shape.  Not sure how to make a keyway cut out.  That is just one thing I will have a problem with.  Any more help would be awesome. I will keep looking for the data for now.

If you can provide a properly dimensioned drawing then I can make your Schematic Symbol and PCB Footprint.

@andyfierman Awesome,  I will have the drawing made up soon.  Keep in mind the lamp socket can hold many different lamps.  LED, incandescent, many voltages and so on.  Should be labeled L1, L2 and so on?  Not sure how the drawing on the PCB will look, most of the footprint will be cut out?  Thanks for offering to make the  Schematic Symbol and PCB Footprint.  I will post the drawing here.

@andyfierman Hope this drawing works (my son made it).  If something is missing or needs explanation just ask.  Not sure how or where you pin on an item with such a big footprint (area of tinning).  If you can only pin in one spot, on each side  then could you pin out at 4:30 and 9:30 like on a clock.  Not sure that is clear?   Also some key words for finding this item could be: TOSHIBA, JIUHUI, V-2, T10, T-10, LAMP, LED, SOCKET, HOLDER. ![T10 footprint in color measurements.jpg](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/OTKrBiz7oXGWXaAC32OTy1H3891tSUvT3XCakoih.jpeg)

Are the LED versions of these lamps reverse polarity protected or are they bipolar (can be connected either way round)? If they are polarity sensitive (like a simple LED) then I will add a polarity marker by one of the pads.
Reply
igo4rams 4 years ago
@andyfierman good question.  They can be connected either way (reverse polarity protected).  Also can you pin out anywhere on the footprint? Three points on  each side would be good.

igo4rams 4 years ago
@igo4rams Pin out on footprint.  What I should have said is pin out on the pad?  there is two pads, if you can pin out anywhere on the pad, great.  But if you can pin out only in one spot then could you pin out  at 1:30 and 7:30 as in a clock.   Thanks

That took a bit more thinking about than I originally reckoned and I've learned a few tricks along the way but this is it: ![image.png](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/Ro7OA4wtvAKKgZY4QnWB38N93LYQDDK5rKZy5Nnl.png) Don't worry about the pad colours: 1. there are 2 left hand pads, one on each layer connected by a via at each end and both numbered 1; 2. there are 2 right hand pads, one on each layer connected by a via at each end and both numbered 2; so you can connect a wire anywhere into each pad on either side of the board. There's only one track attachment point on each pad in the centre of the arcs but as you can see, you can route any number of tracks to each pad from almost any direction: ![image.png](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/wUmIIx6d7CLx6fRSrLCtvN8CVNBZVTsiUVOynXeQ.png) If you read the Tutorial you'll see we recommend gerbv for checking your gerbers and if you do that, you'll see that the footprint really does have a cutout of the right shape and size even though the pads don't appear cut away as they should. Please check the dimensions on the footprint carefully (find it in the library then open it for editing and check all the XY points by selecting each element on each layer: you won't be able to overwrite it).

I have moved the vias slightly further out so they are clear of the cutaway in the copper but in doing that I have discovered that the "Solid Region set to No Solid that is used to remove copper from and area, does not seem to work in a pad so the pads do wrao slightly round the board cutout. I am raising a bug report to describe this but I don't think it will be a problem for you. If it is, I can move the arc ends a little further round away from the cutout area.

@andyfierman Looks good.  I will try it out.  Thanks for all your time and patience with me.

You shouldn't be doing this with power on anyway but to avoid any risk, make sure that the lamp holder contacts won't short between the two ends of the pads as the holder is inserted or removed.

Doh! Yes, it was late last night and I forgot to add the 13mm diameter hole through the middle of the slot. I'll fix that and make a dedicated Schematic Symbol. I forgot to say last night that there's no need for one really because you can use any existing symbol for a lamp or a LED that you prefer and then just assign the new PCB Footprint to its Package attribute in the right hand panel but as I've got to edit the footprint, I'll do the symbol at the same time.

Right, There are now two versions of the footprint, version 1 using two pairs of Top and Bottom layer pads via'd together and version 2 using Multilayer pads with a single Auto-placed via joining top and bottom layers. Both now have the central 13mm hole in place. ![image.png](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/lePRfbXOb5Hr8es876x8iGNON2KuIUSb0y7VukiY.png) Looks like JLCPCB have improved their Gerber viewer but it's still advisable to check using gerbv. ![image.png](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/CXEUPBDZ3hH9MejBObaegSmYMIvhCQ7iVOBo2vs8.png) There's a Schematic Symbol with the version 2 footprint assigned to the Package attribute and a simple schematic and PCB that demonstrates it together with the same symbol but with the Package attribute edited to assign the version 1 footprint to it: ![image.png](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/3VSyaeawY1d3zN1R4C89Yu23oWQIFym795TaiW7H.png) ![image.png](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/Lwd33y0J6I8vnYy21c0XS4DmiIkHgVbNQu6TwCwA.png) The schematic converts to PCB OK but there are lots of DRC errors in both footprints caused by the Solid Region set to No Solid. You can safely ignore them but they should just not be there. ![image.png](//image.easyeda.com/pullimage/esbdLHlbtXLIefmPvrfj8M9elPdqsVEw33gzmWDI.png) I have raised a Bug Report about this and about the Arc Tools that I was going to try use to see if that avoided the DRC errors (I originally used the Arc Tools to create the shape that is now created by the Solid Region but didn't check it to see if there were any DRC errors before I had the "better" idea of using the Solid Region tool but that was yesterday using V6.3.22. Now having auto-updated to V6.3.39, I no longer have the option of going back to the direct Board Outline approach.

I have been working on this and found the Solid Region tool works great.  I am very close to making this item.  Lots of time but I am getting it.  Just need to learn how to link my Sch Lib with my PCB Lib.  I seen that somewhere?  I will try and post a pic, not sure how to crop my screen shot?

Well done. You're clearly having fun getting the hang of EasyEDA. :) "...how to link my Sch Lib with my PCB Lib..." Click on the **Package** attribute of the Schematic Symbol. Check your pcb using the Design Manager for the kind of DRC errors I found in my version of the footprint.
