If you draw one instance and then simply copy and paste then you will get copies of the same schematic but with the reference designators (prefixes) auto-incremented. The numbering will continue from the last-placed part of the same type. So, suppose you have this schematic:  and you want to CTRL+C, CTRL+V copy and paste the selected components. Then the numbering of the pasted components will follow on like this:  Because R4, R5, R6 and Q2 already existed in the schematic.
