passive components package types

This maybe a simple question, but can somebody point me to a reference to understand the package types for resistors and capacitors? For example: for electrolytic capacitor: CAP-D10.0XF5.0, and for a resistor Res_AXIAL-0.3 ? I am struggling with picking the right size capacitor, when I am in the PCB design view either the capacitor is either to big or too small.

This not guaranteed but most of the time if you see a cap footprint described like CAP-D10.0XF5.0, i.e. CAP-Ddd.dXFf.f then this refers to a radial wire leaded (through-hole) cap such as an aluminium electrolytic. e.g. [https://lcsc\.com/product\-detail/Aluminum\-Electrolytic\-Capacitors\-Leaded\_LCSC\-470uF16V\_C28067\.html](https://lcsc.com/product-detail/Aluminum-Electrolytic-Capacitors-Leaded_LCSC-470uF16V_C28067.html) where dd.d is the outer diameter in mm and f.f is the pin spacing in mm. For a resistor Res_AXIAL-0.3 of the form Res_AXIAL-f.f this describes the pin spacing of an axial leaded through hole resistor such as: [https://uk.farnell.com/multicomp/mcf-0-25w-1k/res-1k-5-250mw-axial-carbon-film/dp/9339051?st=1k%200.25w](https://uk.farnell.com/multicomp/mcf-0-25w-1k/res-1k-5-250mw-axial-carbon-film/dp/9339051?st=1k%200.25w) where f.f is in inches. However there is no overall standard for describing these footprints so please check them carefully.
