silkscreen will be removed by "update PCB"

Hi, I create a shematic. Then I create the PCB for this shematic and position some components. Then I add many silkscreen. Now I had some errors (wrong componetns) in the shematic. So I corrected it and now I want to update the PCB. But when I click "update PCB" he show me the changes. In the list he want to remove the silkscreen. Why? The silkscreen is no part of the shematic, but the option to leave the silkscreen intact at updating th PCB should be there! Or am I missing something here?

This is explained in (2.2) in: [https://easyeda\.com/andyfierman/Welcome\_to\_EasyEDA\-31e1288f882e49e582699b8eb7fe9b1f](https://easyeda.com/andyfierman/Welcome_to_EasyEDA-31e1288f882e49e582699b8eb7fe9b1f)

If you use the Update PCB or Import Changes, the PCB component will follow the schematic, if you want to place new parts on the PCB, you have to place them on the schematic first.

@andyfierman Hey Andy, I read your document. There is nothing about the problem.

@UserSupport Hi Support, this is a nice answer to a question I never asked. I give up with this software...

@sheepchen, `"Hey Andy,` `I read your document. There is nothing about the problem."`You have added "silkscreen" items (`Then I add many silkscreen.`by which I assume you mean PCB footprints) to the PCB **after** you have converted the schematic to PCB. Therefore the items you have added to the PCB are not in the schematic. Therefore when you update the PCB those items will be deleted. * There is a whole section in the document I referred you to devoted to exactly what your issue is: [Show all the elements that are to be mounted on or form an integral part of the PCB.](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CU7RuPyFlSZPzWBN-YZ0x87xeAB4xpLdLaIsUwhLj_M/edit#heading=h.6k7tyj3eynso) `"Hi Support,` `this is a nice answer to a question I never asked."` * Support has exactly answered the question you have asked. It is also recommended that you update your version of Chrome as some features of EasyEDA may not work correctly with the old version you appear to be using.

@andyfierman Hi Andy, thanks for your help. 1\. I dont have Chrome on my PC\. This version comes from the easyEDA\-Client\. I use Firefox and Edge only\. 2\. I added Silkscreen after I create the PCB via the 'track' PCB\-tool while 'edit topsilklayer' was selected\. I understand that the silk will be removed by updating becaue it is not in the shematic. But how do I get silkscreen in the shematic in the first place?? All video-tutorials are way to basic. They show how I have to click on new PCB to create a new PCB.. 3 minutes... It would be nice if there were a video tutorial from idea tp finished PCB that show all tricks that the software had. (1-2 hours) My problem with the software is not thats its bad. Its just a poorly designed interface. Like the "H"-Key in PCB-Design. or how to flip parts. This shold be a right-click menu item and not hidden in keyboard shortcuts. Yesterday I searched half an hour for pairing the PCB foodprint of an element (new created because missing in the DB) with its shematic. How I make the new element (a P-Ch Mosfet) public so everyone can use it? I don't know! Maybe a Keyboard-shortcut? EasyEDA is by far the best PCB-Software I have seen in my 20 years of electronics. But the Interface needs to be more user-friendly. So, back to my question. Please tell me how I add silkscreen in the shematic so an update swaps it to the PCB. thanks.

" I added Silkscreen after I create the PCB via the 'track' PCB-tool while 'edit topsilklayer' was selected." Your project is private so only you can see it. Can you either make it public, share it privately or post something to demonstrate what and how you added the silkscreen?

@sheepchen, `So, back to my question. Please tell me how I add silkscreen in the shematic so an update swaps it to the PCB.` As explained in (2.2), (4) and (5) in: [https://easyeda\.com/andyfierman/Welcome\_to\_EasyEDA\-31e1288f882e49e582699b8eb7fe9b1f](https://easyeda.com/andyfierman/Welcome_to_EasyEDA-31e1288f882e49e582699b8eb7fe9b1f) _anything_ that is on the PCB must have a Schematic Symbol and an associated PCB Footprint. I have just published the first draft of a document describing the process of Schematic Symbol and associated PCB Footprint creation with some important information explaining why it is done this way in EasyEDA: [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZRkPPMID68mBz9j9RMIJARNSXK12PDULZXP7kiThvDg/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZRkPPMID68mBz9j9RMIJARNSXK12PDULZXP7kiThvDg/edit?usp=sharing) This does not describe every detailed step - for that you need to read the Tutorials on Schematic Symbol and PCB Footprint creation - but it does describe the steps that must be carried out.

Hi You can place a part on the schematic, and this part assign package what you want to place. this package(PCBlib) you have to find it or create it. and you can assign it to the part at footprint manager. The more you can refer: [https://docs.easyeda.com/en/SchematicLib/SchLib-Create/index.html](https://docs.easyeda.com/en/SchematicLib/SchLib-Create/index.html) [https://docs.easyeda.com/en/PCBLib/PCBLib-Create/index.html](https://docs.easyeda.com/en/PCBLib/PCBLib-Create/index.html) [https://docs.easyeda.com/en/Schematic/Footprint-Manager/index.html](https://docs.easyeda.com/en/Schematic/Footprint-Manager/index.html) if you don't want to place a part at the schematic, you can place the silkscreen footprint on the PCB after "import changes". because of the editor will compare the PCB and the schematic, if something doesn't match, the editor will update or remove it.
