Therefore, you will also have to update all the other attributes such as manufacturer and supplier part numbers and any links to datasheets. If you don't do this then the BoM will not have the correct information about the new components. You will also need to edit (or just copy and paste) any other instances of the new component in the schematic. If a schematic symbol for new component is available from the library, with all the required attributes, then you can just delete the old symbols and replace them with the new ones.
