when laying a PCB trace with multiple segments, it would be great if ctrl-Z could undo the previous segment (click).
currently ctrl-Z during trace laying undoes the action that occurred BEFORE starting the trace.

yeah, i'm not talking about AFTER the trace has been laid. i'm talking about during the laying.
when laying a trace, you click in empty space to finish each segment of the trace (and start the next). ctrl-z should undo the previous click(s).

Not quite what you are asking for but are you aware that you can delete any vertex (green dot) in a track by double-clicking on it?
Double-clicking on the first or last green dot of a track has the effect of deleting that first or last segment.
Converse;y, double-clicking on the track has the effect of adding a vertex.
