When choosing "save as" and saving as new version, nothing happens, small rectangle message on the lower right corner "save success" but new file never shows up, tried everything, different project, restarting, etc. still same problem.

The issue is more complex than as described in your bug report.
If you look carefully at the
Existing Projectslist you will find that cannot Save As... a Schematic to the same Project from which it came. To do that, you must Clone it.If you try to Save As... a PCB to the same Project from which it came, when you look at the
Existing Projectslist it does show the Project from which it came as an option and even appears to let you save it there under a different name but in fact it does not save it. Again, to do that, you must Clone it.Please note that the intended behaviour of the Save As... option has been documented elsewhere in the Forum following the update to Version 5.x.x.
